Liberty point cost

By Lochlan, in Star Wars: Armada

Does the Liberty really want to be in a fleet of other forward facing ships? How about pairing her up with some broadsiders who go on ahead of her in a curve to bring their sides to bare while she come straight at you slowly, so you don't know which way to turn?

That sounds like a good strategy in theory but I have tried it with other ships and learned that splitting a fleet seems to always end badly for me.

In my head it's only a temporary split - you bring both groups together in a pincer movement. Was just off the top of my head though.

I could see it working in tandem with an MC80, Liberty goes forward the mc80 to the side engine teching for a double arc.

Have the Liberty trail in echelon behind the MC80.

If any one wants to block the path for the MC80, the Liberty is right behind to give support.

If someone moves along the MC80's flanks, they will be caught in a overlapping field of fire from the MC80's broadside and the Liberty's front arc.

Anyway just some tactical thought, that I've recently had go through my mind, on how best to employ an Liberty in tandem with a MC80. ;)

This is how I ran Assault frigate with Yav and Salv.

I am tempted to buy 2 liberty expansions, as they are cheaper I could then run Defiance with spinal turrets flanked by a liberty-class MC80 on either side. Rebel triple-large lists would be far better than a triple ISD list, as you would have space for a few critical upgrades.

Garm would be my commander for such a list, I think. Free tokens galore.

Could we see a 3 large base list that works.....

Dodonna could work well for that type of list, all those dice will generate a lot of crits. If the Liberties are around 100 each, a command MC 106 with big D that's only 326, 29 points for a few choice upgrades and a small group of four fighters for 45 points. Not saying it's likely to be massively competitive but I'd play it on a friendly night.

At 114 for a MC80 and 95ish for a basic liberty class ship, I'd say yes.

Liberty, Salvation, Scout Admonition. . . Some flotillas and voila, a fleet.

Winged Liberty Behind Home One!

Doesn't Change its attitude!

It is truly amazing how bad the scaling is in that shot!

Liberty, Salvation, Yavaris, Nebulon, Keyan and Luke

My list building has lost innovation as I just want to build this already!

Why? The Neb B looks big, but maybe that shot is right and it's the tiny Neb b we see in Empire that's the mistake.

Although, the transports must be bloody big as well...

The mc80 never struck me as a potent weapons platform unless you built for it with Defiance

I wouldnt be surprised if the liberty weren't cheaper, as it's less defensively capable and riskier to use (imperial ship forward firing mentality, no defensive retro and only one redirect)

It's also got puny squadron capability without the title

The liberty could provide rebels with a slug fighting ship that they don't really have yet

the more I play the less I like the 80 and that makes me sad. You post so much to have those dice on both sides when you usually can only use one.

Ackbar Slash....it's fun and works.

I manage to pull it off about half the time.

**** I've never bothered with the slash, seems like a recipe for disaster unless you're against a bunch of nippy bastards

just Home One and ISD levels of dice with Akbar for me

though the inclusion of Engine Techs really turns it into a whole another ship. Can't play an MC-80 without it anymore

He loves them. He bought a second one after I won him an 80 from the massing at sullest. So it clearly wasnt an impulse buy.

I like engine techs on it as long as I have an external way of getting it tokens. Not a fan of picking nav commands with it.

I was pretty close! the cost being 96 and 103

I got the point spread right, but I underbid by 4 on each. If I had anticipated 3 speed I would have been closer, for sure.
