Talent Question - Fearless

By nethru, in Dark Heresy

How is this handled in game when characters are suppose to make fear tests? If a player has fearless does he still make a fear test even tho it won't affect him to see if he goes more insane over time from being exposed to things that acolytes encounter or does that not affect him at all? If they get zero effects from the fear charts then a character with the fearless talent is completely immune to insanity is this correct?

Thanks.

No, not really. While the character might become immune to acquiring insanity points due to fear tests, there are things that still grant insanity points without requiring fear tests.

what's an example of something that grants insanity without a fear test?

Examples:

Hearing the true name of a Demon spoken aloud (Also possibly corrupting)

Watching your loved one possessed by a Slanessh spirit then debauching themselves in front of you while your bound helpless and unable to do anything to stop them.

I could go on but I gotta save that stuff for my fearless/jaded pc's

Many Critical Hits grant Insanity Points

Watching an exterminatus, or "simply" a genocidium, and so on...

Many GM pass along Insanity Points for certain acts a figure commits.

If (for example) a guardsman shoots a number of childern into the head because they are contagious with something that would otherwise spread, I would ask for a willpower check to see if the guardsman can cope with what he is doing or not.

Being under the influence of certain drugs can lead to insanity points as well. There is an example for an especially vicious venom in the DarkHeresy GM Kit (Poison-Section)

IIRC fearless will do nothing to stop the IP incurred from psychic or deamonic possession.
