Yeah, 4 rounds + cut was a lot more fun than just rolling through swiss and ending the event. I went 8-2 bye, 9-1 (1 point shy of 10-0), 5-5 (Q and I didn't fall into each other's traps!), and 7-3 (I might have made some mistakes on this one... not sure if I made the right targeting decisions). Learned some stuff that's going to cause me to change my list a little and optimize it a little better.

What are everyone's thoughts on using the bye? It doesn't look like there were many 10-0 wins, but 9-1 seemed to be more common.

Of the 5 or so that used them Paul got 3rd and Q got 5th. I think it actually hurt Paul a bit because I think he was shy of 2nd on MOV since the bye only gave him 61 MOV. But who knows how that first game will go. I think it really doesnt hurt you but it does cut down on your fatigue.

After hearing from the high tables I'm not sure I should mention where I ended up in the rankings lol

@pheaver: don't think you made any real major targeting errors in our round 4 game. I still think I screwed up with when I sent the fighters in. I think holding off a turn or longer on my fighters would have been better, but after I sent them in I did everything I could to deny shots on anything but Yavaris since if it turns you were just going to light up its sides like a Christmas tree.

I'll openly admit I came in 15th and 10th in the 2 events I attended. No shame in a bad day. Or two. Or just not being really good.

I'm trying to figure out if I would have done better going right instead of left, and trying to get behind your mc80 to spam 15 point victory tokens. I think doing that would have either gotten me a billion points, or it would have failed horribly and you would have won. Either way, 3rd means I got all the prizes that I wanted and I got to go home.

I'm not sure it would have worked. I had all my ships ready to go to max speed if necessary in the case you did that. I think we 5-5 if that happens. I'm pretty sure you made the correct call.

I was hoping for that level of comeback at both events. Yeah... I only won one game amongst 6 rounds.

I opted not to take the bye. After that first round I was kicking myself, but now it looks like it actually worked out better for me. The four round tournament does a LOT to neutralize the bye. The nature of swiss draw out over the extra rounds evens out the scores, as seen with Q and Paul in round three.

Really annoyed that there were NO regionals in the mid-Atlantic (MD, DE, DC, NoVA, eastern PA).

Sounds likes fun event. I wish we would have gotten 30 at the AZ regional but X-Wimg is much more popular down here. Hope we get a good AARON and some pics out of this one. I think they should do the top 2 cut starting at 10. Seems like a better way to end a tournament
