Single turbolasers and new long range rule

By 1mikethebuilder1, in X-Wing Rules Questions

"Spend 2 energy from this card to perform this attack. The defender doubles his agility value against this attack. You may change 1 of your focus results to a hit result."

Just wondering if the new range 3+ adjustment (1 extra green die only) also applies to single turbolasers, or is the defender's agility still doubled for this attack. Thanks

Hard point weapons are secondary weapons so do not receive combat range bonuses.

Do not confuse the conditions for using a STL (defender doubles agility) with a range combat bonus.

No, it doesn't. Single Turbolasers are a secondary weapon.

"If a ship attacks at Range 3 or beyond with its primary weapon, the defender rolls one additional defense die during the “Roll Defense Dice” step of combat."

Was there a modification to the single turbo laser rule? I think I remember an article detailing the change because it was almost impossible to hit fighters beyond R3 or did that only apply to primaries?

Thar was the range bonus for primaries at rane 4-5. It was changes from +2 and +3 to a flat +1 for range 3-5

Right, hence the inquiry. Didn't know if the turbolasers range issue had been addressed. I guess it makes sense as is considering that it's a secondary weapon with no inherent range adjustment.

The Hardpoints generally note penalties for those long range shots (such as defender doubling Agility against that Single Turbolaser) because they do NOT suffer the standard range penalties.

If the single turbolaser suffered from range penalties it would never hit anything. Even a 1Agi ship would be rolling 3-5 dice against a pretty standard attack.

I actually forgot that at first when i saw the card. I immediately went "that...is impossible to use..." then i remembered secondary weapon rules.
