Memorial Day 2016 - Thank you friends who served or are serving.

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Just a Big thanks to those whose family give up someone or ones, to keep America Safe and continue to do so. (also to those in other countries that do the same)

Personally with my Family, my Older brother has done 8 Tours within the Middle East, he has seen a couple of his friends die, and just this week he was promotion to E6. He has a couple left for 20 years of service, my little brother was in the Army for a short time, then was injured (full recovery) and My Grandfather who was a Major is resting in Arlington National Cemetery, my family Celebrates a lot on Holidays such as these and we Honor everyone else that does the same.

Thank you friends who share in life and loss as part of service to countries and kings.

Amen!

Well spoken my friend!!

My father was a Green Beret back in the '70s, he avoided Nam, but did lots in Central and South America. He always told me: "Memorial Day is for my friends who are not here (at least 3 buddies), Veteran's Day is my day if you or anyone else who wants to honor me for my service."

Yes, there were at least three guys who didn't make it so that my father and other guys on his team could and by that measure I and my siblings are present today. To all those who are no longer with us and have paid the ultimate price: THANK YOU for the privilege of life, liberty and plastic Star Wars ships!!!!!!!!!

I think many of us thank you. You make it worth the sacrifice we give.

Yes indeed, thank you for all who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we may have freedom!

Memorial Day is for the dead, not the living. We've got other days for living veterans.

Just remember all the guys resting on foreign soil.

I can't agree enough with this sentiment. I only did one tour in Afghanistan, but this time of year I can't help but remember all those nights we escorted a group of fallen soldiers to their final flight.

Please, take a moment this weekend to remember that these were people who gave all for their country.

They deserve to be remembered.

Thank you all.

My Dad's a Vietnam Vet. I need to get him a Guinness.

To quote Gandalf: "...generous deed should not be checked by cold council."

Everyone who enters service writes a blank check for an amount up to and including their life. Since Cubanboy cannot communicate with the dead, he chose to express his thanks to the living, assuming their willingness to engage in a similar sacrifice. While I understand your point, let us not nitpick at the exact direction of his gratitude.
