tie/fo Miniswarm (Juke box)

I wanted to try out a mini swarm of the tie/fo because I never saw one at my FLGS, I know crack swarm is a big thing but wondered if their newer cousins could do something.

Omega Squad pilot + comm relay +juke + Hull upgrade x4

ps 4 so shoots before u-boats, 20 total health between 4 ships which is nearly 7 tie's worth, all of them have evade so that helps out against higher ps/aces and with the redundancy of 4 jukes still means hopefully two will go off. There are obviously some issues with lower ps mini-swarms.

Played this today against a deathfire with conner net, homing missiles, extra munitions, normal inq.TAP setup, vessery with tie/d and tractor with hull upgrade.

Did a lot better than I thought, I accutaly won because of some insane lucky rolls never loseing a ship (extra hull saved the day with one omega pilot and another at 2 damage)

Looks good but Hull upgrade is fairly pricey. You could save a couple of them to upgrade one ship to Omega Leader who will help you counter enemy Aces while still keeping with the theme of the list.

As awesome as that Omega Leader sounds, I don't think it can equip two mods. Could throw Twin Ion Engines on the other three to fill those points though.

You are absolutely right, for some reason I had the Interceptor Royal Guard title in my head (I blame it on lack of coffee ;)).

Juke works best on higher PS ships as it allows them to use their evade token offensively and still spend it later on defense if needed. With this in mind, perhaps upgrading some/all of the Omegas to named pilots would be worth considering? Some of those FOs have nice abilities and better PS for only a few points more. Might be more worthwhile than hull upgrades.

I guess you could upgrade them all but I don't think the FO aces have much in common with one another ability wise and some of them are lack luster. As well as sure they have higher PS but a big draw to swarms and mini swarms is that they have mostly if not all the same PS so you can switch which one goes first so you can control your own ships better. And if you do upgrade all the ships or even some of them you are looking at ps 7 and ps8(omega leader) tops. Epislon leader doesn't have an EPT (for good reason). So your looking at 5,7,7, and 8 for the ps of your ships. Omega leader will be hunted down first because nothing else seems to be a bigger threat and then your left with three aces that more than likely still won't shoot first vs other aces. Juke on omega ace can be scary when the stars align.

With 4 copies there is no priority target, and better control on flying them. Juke by itself does work best on higher ps ships but when you have multiple jukes you don't mind using a evade token to make sure a ship lives and with the extra hull they can live a little longer as well, and the rest of the ships can fire and juke the enemy, especially if the ship that did use its evade to live shoots first can cause the opponent to decide if they wanna use their focus or save it for a juke later. The extra hull effectively gives another tie fo worth of health to shoot through.

Thats my thoughts about it anyway.

Take the hull upgrades off and you can convert one to carnor jax who synergizes beautifully with Juke. Or go Inquisitor with prockets.
