Need advice on using Tie Defenders in current meta

By exinfris, in X-Wing

In the current meta, I really like to make sure I have Mk II engines since they make your movement WAY less predicable. You can really throw people off by throwing down a hard 1 or 2 turn when they might be assuming you're going to use the white K. Then you have any speed bank to burn off the stress.

When Vets comes out, I've been testing out a squad. Vessery, TIE/D crack shot, Mk II, ion, then naked Omega, Zeta and Epsilon leaders. Have someone TL whom ever you want Vessery to mess up and he's going to deal them 2-3 damage almost every time especially if he focuses since he can burn the TL on each weapon attack.

Uh, if i read your post right Maringue, that doesnt work that way. Mk2 engines makes all banks green, not hards. Your hards will still be red.

Its still a very **** good upgrade on defenders because they have a slew of white banks.

I wasn't trying to say the Mk II would make your hard turns green, the upgrade just gives you a lot more options to burn off that stress after you make a move like that making your Defender's moves a lot less predictable.

I think it's the best value for points mod for the Defender.

Hull has been my saving grace.

As for the thread, here's what I took last time to a tournament.

Vessery w/VI

Omega Leader w/Juke, Comms Relay

Omega Squadron w/Crackshot x 2

It was quite fun. You may also want to try teaming Vessery up with the Inquisitor and another Advanced/FO/Adv. Prototype.

I play casually against my wife, and in each of the last 2 games we played I fielded a TIE/x7. It's a ton of fun. In both games the x7 was the only ship that survived. A bit of luck of the die (and inflicting a couple direct hits), but I really like setting up between a couple asteroids and doing 6+ k turns in a row and getting a free evade and taking a focus each time. I think my x7 took out 3 ships each match (x-wing and a-wing aces)!

I can hardly wait till the veterans release so I can field 2 TIE/D's with ion canon and Fel. :D

Oh, and in both games I only had to do one maneuver that was less than 3 speed.
