There should be a title in the Veterans box for bombers to equip bombs in their missile/torp slots.

I would so bring Deathfire with that title, extra muntions, seismic charges, proxy mines, cluster mines, and connernets and just have him dodge the entire fight while he leaves mines EVERYWHERE lol

I'm always faintly disappointed that the Bomber can only carry a maximum of two bombs.

I mean, I know its role in space combat is much more 'general ordnance carrier' but... Bomber. Bombs.

I think once the expansion comes out that you will have much better options for sticking just one Tie Bomber in your list. It can be a Tie Shuttle....or a Bomb expert....or just one awesome ordnance carrier. They have all sorts of new stuff for that. It will be a better option than before (and I have tried it before to decent effect).

Gamma Vet with Deadeye means you only have 5 pts left (to go with 4 of them). So, that's either Extra Munitions and Plasma or Homing Missile and no second shot.

Also...what's TV?

LOL I edited it to TL for target lock, stupid phone...

Bomber only has 1 bomb slot. You have to take extra munitions to get a 2nd one and of course its only a repeat of what you got, so sadly no seismic + clusters or something like that.

Whenever the Imperial Veterans FINALLY comes out (FFG is probably waiting for the tournaments to be over I'll bet), then I'm trying:

Jonus’ Bomber Crew

28 Captain Jonus – TIE Bomber (22), Concussion Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

23 Gamma Squadron Pilot – TIE Bomber (18), Concussion Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

23 Gamma Squadron Pilot – TIE Bomber (18), Concussion Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

23 Gamma Squadron Pilot – TIE Bomber (18), Concussion Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

People target Jonus right away. He dies first and then you get no modification for your Bombers. They have to fly in formation and get flanked by arc dodgers quite easily. If you just made everyone the same and used those spare points to upgrade to Homing Missiles, you would be so much more effective without the weak point of Jonus. You would even have points left over to bump everyone up to Gamma Vets.

Well thought out, I see your point...especially since I'm no swarm-master pilot; actually I can't get the courage up to fly a swarm in anything other than a beer game. So something that looks like this (when the pre-ordered set finally comes?!?):

Veteran Bomber Crew

25 Gamma Squadron Veteran – TIE Bomber (19), Homing Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

25 Gamma Squadron Veteran – TIE Bomber (19), Homing Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

25 Gamma Squadron Veteran – TIE Bomber (19), Homing Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

25 Gamma Squadron Veteran – TIE Bomber (19), Homing Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

.........only thing that'll suck is I will only have two Gamma Squadron Veteran cards when the Vets pack comes out.....what? ...more $$$$$ errrrrrr!

I will be trying this once I have my hands on McDibs:

Scimitar Squadron Pilot — TIE Bomber 16
Conner Net 4
Ship Total: 20

Scimitar Squadron Pilot — TIE Bomber 16
Proximity Mines 3
Ship Total: 19

Proximity Mines 3

"Deathfire" — TIE Bomber 17
Extra Munitions 2
Proximity Mines 3
Ship Total: 22

25 Gamma Squadron Veteran – TIE Bomber (19), Homing Missiles (4), Extra Munitions (2), and Guidance Chip (0)

homing_missiles.png

As the image indicates, Homing Missiles cost 5, not 4; so a Gamma Squadron Veteran with that loadout would be 26 points. That's one point too expensive for a 4x squad.

You'd need to switch to Concussion Missiles to hit the 25-point target, and still have a 4-dice missile. The effect replacement is mostly equivalent (instead of preventing evade tokens, you get a free blank->hit conversion), but the real drawback for the lower cost is that your TL gets spent to fire. Guidance Chips will help mitigate this, but don't expect the same accuracy as you'd get with Homing Missiles.

EDIT: or downgrade to Gamma Squadron Pilot, and lose 1 PS. If you're mainly looking to shoot before other ordnance carriers, GSP should be fine. If you want to go before a Crackshot Swarm, you'll probably want GSV instead. Reminder that as you drop your PS, you increase the risk of not getting the TL for the opening engagement.

EDIT EDIT: or switch from missiles to Torpedoes; can go cheap with Plasma (and allow for a GSV with 1-point Elite), or Proton Torps.

Couple of points here from recent bomber experience; I flew 3 bombers and OL in the recent San Diego regional. I went 3-3 and my losses were much closer than points would suggest.

1) In my testing, good players don't get hit by bombs. It just doesn't hardly happen (Excepting Bro bots that are very easy to predict.)

2) OL is vital to taking out other Aces.

3) Proton Torps are better than Concussion missiles, unless you can guaranty having a focus and TL and that is very hard

My list was 26 point OL, 2x Gamma with tracer, chips, proton torp, EM; 1x Gamma with tracer, chip, plasma torp, EM

Was a blast to play but it dies very quickly to arc dodging Decimators

I've been thinking of trying something similar, except with less loaded 3 scimitars and jax. Jax makes the missiles hit harder and will distract as people try to kill him, keeping the bombers safe for an extra round or two.

I really dont want to spam bombers for the sheer fact that i dont want to get that many guidance chips lol. TIE Adv/Prots arent expensive but i hate buying a kit for literally 1 card. Plan to run 3, but one is going to be a shuttle throwing out targetlocks and focus tokens.

Theres also extra muntions. I am not buying another Punisher...lol

edit: What i want to do:

Gamma Squad Vet (35)

Deadeye

Extra Munitions

Proton Torps

Cluster missiles

Proton Bombs

Guidance Chips

Gamma Squad Vet (34)

Deadeye

Extra Munitions

Plasma Torps

Cluster Missiles

Proton Bombs

Guidance Chips

Tomax Bren (31)

Cool Hand

Twin Ion Engine Mk2

TIE Shuttle

Systems Officer

Fleet Officer

Total: 100pts

Yeah, its loading the two shuttles a bit but i really dont like leaving a range1 deadzone. Took proton bombs because i had 5pts left when i put seismics and both had proton torps. If i put those back to seismics and remove the missiles, i can get a TIE shmuck, but i really dont see him doing anything. Plus, Tomax is going to be the target here anyway so its pretty likely my bombers will fire more than 2 ordnance.

Tomax takes Cool Hand and Fleet Officer so his action dumps a focus onto my nearby bomber buddies and stresses him out, which gives him an evade token every turn since Tomax doesnt discard his EPT. Long as he does a green maneuver (which he has 9 of with Mk2 engines) he always clears his stress for the next round and dumps a free targetlock.

Predictable? Probably, since theyre kinda stuck in formation flight. But they dont NEED him so its not like i auto lose the moment i lose the shuttle.

I pushed the idiot button for sure; goodness, editing lists is dangerous haha. My favorite corrective advice is possibly dropping 2 bombers to regular bomber pilots and possibly switch out the homing missiles on those to meet the points criteria; I really like homing missiles.
