Was there a problem with the X-Wing Regional Madrid 2016 Final?

By RedSaint, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Hi

I reviewed the video of the X-Wing Regional Madrid 2016 Final .

1. Note that Mario Nunez puts down his first Ties on the right side of his edge. I presume they must be his Academy pilots [14:01] as they are pilot skill 1.

2. In the first movement phase he start movement with left hand side group. I presume his Black Sqn Pilots at pilot skill 4. [18:28]

3. Note that Mario moves, what appears to be a pilot skill 4 ship before the pilot skill 1 ship on the right hand side of that block. [18:31]

4. In the second movement phase he starts movement with the right hand side group [21.59], I presume they must be the Academy pilots again.

Surely this cannot be correct or am I mistaken?

5. It looks like Mario moves his Howlrunner before a Black Sqn Pilot at points [30:22].

6. He does it again at point [36:47]

It seems like you have a problem with it. Even if Mario had moved his BSs before APs this didn't gain him any advantage. At the end he moved both groups before his opponent's aces. There is no sound from the video, so we could only speculate what has been said, but from my experience when flying swarms players tend to move all ships at once with opponent's permition. You also didn't notice that Ismael revealed OGP dial after all TIEs were moved. Even if you were right that Mario swaped the order of the two groups, the ships and their moves weren't in position to cause a crash or cause an event to miss action, so overall the mistake doesnt affect the outcome of the match. Again we have no clue if both players discussed the moves before that.

Unfortunately your statements are not correct. It would have been impossible for Mario to keep formation if he moved his ships in the correct order. In the second move, there was an AP at the rear of the left hand group that would bave bumped the ship in front of it.

This is not the only example.

To say that this did not have an impact on the outcome is also very dangerous.

2. The order of movement has no impact for colision.

3. The order of movement has no impact for colision.

4. The order of movement has no impact for colision.

5. The order of movement has no impact for colision.

6. The order of movement has no impact for colision.

The only difference that would be is that in some movements some of the ships may have to be marked so the higher PS ship would move to it's position. It seems that we're watching two different videos or idk. Does anybody sees any wrongdoing except the shuttle's dial is revealed after Howlrunner?

There are not a problem in his movements, and it seems that Ismael agreed with that.

With swarms, if there is a correct alignment and you make a hard turn, you keep the same pattern facing another side. Moving in ps order makes the activation phase slower, because sometimes you need to remove a ship for execute clean movements.

The academy pilots are in the top corner and is not possible the bump with any order of movements. You should rewatch the video...

I only see a perfect flying.

I dont see perfect formation flying. What I see is one of the Spain Regionals finalists repeatedly breaking the game rules and winning the tournament.

.

Ok, then is your problem.

The only advantage that exists is for both players.

A faster game.

Ismael agreed with his method because, unlike you, he knew there were not any problem or advantage for Mario. If there is a rule broken, both players were responsible.

But who the hell cares?

It´s a good game and Mario deserves the victory.

Thanks.

I'm sure Mario deserves a victory - but not in this way.

May I propose a rematch because if Mario wins again in the future, people will always doubt the validity of the result.

I also fear that from now on, the international X-wing community will never be able to take results coming out of Spain seriously.

Because, hey - if you don't care then why should we care about what happens in Spain?

What's the sound of one troll trolling?

Dude you have five posts and all about this one subject.

There were a bunch of people watching the game and two players going at it. I don't think they need your validity. They went through the whole Swiss, they have credibility.

We don't know what the conversation was between them but we can be certain it was after a lot of play and both were tired.

Give it a rest dude

Well OP, you have 2 choices: Either to let it go because obviously you're the only one to have a problem with it, or go berserk like this:

A gamer from Spain here! I couldn't make it to the regionals, but I've also seen the video, and NO WAY the winner was cheating or anything. I didn't hear them say anything like "I'll move my ties all together to be faster", or anything like that, but they definately must have talked about speeding the game. They've faced each other before, (actually, they played each other in R1 swiss, and Mario won as well, but in the last roll) and they respect each other very much. There was one time Howlrunner moved at the same time as some BS, and when Inquisitor (who had the initiative) tried to get a TL on her, she was already gone. They were very aware of that, and just measured from where she was before her movement, and kept playing. Btw, Mario Nuñez is not only Madrid's Regional Champion thanks to this victory, he's currently the NATIONAL Champion,so I don't think he's a noob or anything like that, give him some credit.

The real funny part is that you say things like "peolpe will always doubt..." "The x-wing community will never be able to..." But I don't see anyone getting upset/worried about this but you! So please, speak for yourself and don't put everyone on the same bag.

P.S English isn't my first language, so I hope i didn't mess anything up.

Fly casual!

Amen!

I am late, thank you S4ul0 and RoockieBoy for clarifying this.

We agreed to do that way since we agreed it would not affect the game result, that is, as simple as that.

I moved howlrunner before black squadron to have a more confortable activation phase since it would not affect the game flow in any way. But we missed that having moved before my opponent inquisitor a not legal situation arisen, so we agreed he could not target lock howlrunner since I moved it but she should not be there yet.
