Full List of SW RPG Books

By Aurin, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey folks. In doing a bunch of research in the hopes of kicking off a new EotE campaign, I compiled a list of resources from the different eras of Star Wars RPGs from Wookiepedia. After that, I tried to narrow down the list to the books to prioritize reading that fit particularly well for EotE. I thought I'd share it here in case others may find it useful (or have thoughts on something that I may have missed).

If you plan on running an Edge of the Empire campaign with FFGs rules then most of the books from WEG and WotC are irrelevant. The majority of the content in the non-FFG books are Starship and NPC stats which are either irrelevant because FFG have already statted that starship in a book and for NPCs you have to do your own conversion or use an appropriate Adversary's stats.

The Coruscant and Geonosis books have info on planets that are useful and don't need any kind of conversion. All of this info is also on the Wookiepedia so you don't need to buy those books.

All of the WEG books are available for free at the d6 holocron.

The only books you need to buy are the Edge of Empire books. The WotC books are worthless, you don't need the stats and the background info you might need you can find by digging around on Wookiepedia.

Thanks for the input, folks. Alisair - I agree that a lot of the hard bits are covered in other spots so some WotC books such as Starships of the Galaxy, etc. aren't as relevant. Many of the other books, however, even if the content is relatively the same, do have different / expanded fluff that can be valuable for a GM with a game focused on certain areas. For example, it's my understanding that Scum and Villainy not only has a bunch of great info on Point Nadir, it also has a full length adventure, Fell Star, as well as a number of adventure seeds.

Likwise WotC has some really good info or campaign design, special needs and concepts and so on.

I won't deny the stats aren't especially valuable, but to call the books irrelevant is a pretty misleading statement.

Well said.

The fact that WEG hasn't released a Star Wars book in nearly two decades (four SW movies, three animated series, and dozens of novels and video games ago) and it still has the claim to the largest, deepest, most fleshed out Star Wars RPG system in existence (and is indeed the backbone of the entire Legends body of work) is pretty telling as to its relevance.

Anyone that says the WEG books are of little or no value to a Star Wars GM in another system has likely never read a WEG book.

I think what he was getting at more was that you shouldn't buy them, the info is free online. But yes I agree, the WEG and WotC material is extremely valuable content wise. Even mechanics wise, there are things to pull from them that can turn into house rules.

@Aurin - Great list, thanks for sharing.
