Has anyone tried to light the spine or gravity wells on the interdictor?

aaaah glowy!!

I wish we saw more lit MC80s.

[EDIT]: Here's my Led fleet. With green wash paint all over the hull of each ship my fleet has this unique toutch.
however I am a little worried about Quasar- it seens to be hard to open... any tips anyone?

[EDIT 3]
I've opened my Quasar; wasn't easy- I've cut my left thumb in half in the process :/

Me too, but I don't light them up with LED's.

Ouch on the thumb, and these cuts are so clean how did you do it?
Those are the main hull, (left) top hull (right top) and bottom of the hanger bays (right bottom) yes? Can you show us a picture of the reverse of all these?

Model is splitted into 3 parts:
-Main hull (left)
-top plate- separate part of the model (top-right), attached to main hull with 4 columns (1 at the front, 2 at the back and 1 in the middle); I've never spotted this until it crack from main hull during bending it in anger ;)
-bottom part of hangar bays (top part is integrated with the main hull; it was almost impossible to cut off and I've damaged walls dividing hangars and cut my thumb in the process)

I second this!

Some of the projects linked had good pictures of the layouts, but for someone completely new to it like myself, where do we start? How do we decide what battery, what are the different kinds and sizes of LEDs, how long do batteries last and how can you make them last longer, the basics?

Is there a website somewhere that goes over this?

I have the Homeworld Remastered Collector's edition with the LED-lit replica of the mothership. It has a USB cord to power the LEDs - is there something like this that can be used to charge a rechargeable battery for Armada ships to avoid having to open the ship and replace the batteries?

I did a write up of my method awhile back when I was working on my X wing stuff and recently modified it slightly to include Armada. And I just put together an all inclusive list of tools/materials I use, and where I use them so you can know whether or not you'd need them. My ships all stay closed and recharge externally - you could use a USB port if you wanted, but for space concerns, I just use metal contacts and/or magnets. It's less safe (since you can short them out easier if you're not paying attention) but much less space consuming.

You can find it here:

Here are mine, with a 38" SSD and repainted/yellow-lit ISD1 on the way. You can tell some of them need their battery replaced due to dimness (that ISD in the foreground gets plenty of usage :P ). Credit to Danny L. for his amazing work and no credit to me for taking these with my phone. Imgur link .
