Lighting and Repaints

Looks great! I was thinking of doing the same thing to my Decimator, but was considering cutting back the fork so the panels would dominate.

Wait a sec, what became of the Raider those panels came from?

The wings are magnetized, so I can just pull them off and put them back on the Raider. It's going to be a sad day though when I play Imperial Epic with both and don't have a second set of wings for the Deci.

Ha... I still need to take those Decimator pictures. But it was on the table for a Store Championship on Sunday, and looked mighty fierce. In the meantime, I've started working on another YT-1300 because I was never happy with my first one (go figure - it was the first ship I modified, and it wasn't done right). But this time I decided instead of a write up, I'll record it and upload it to youtube. Part 1 is already up, and Part 2 will probably be up later today.

This was EXACTLY what I needed, thank you for making a vid on this! :D

You could always scratchbuild up a set. The angles and texturing are kind of tricky, but overall they're just flat panels.

Great work on all of these. Do you have a video tutorial of lighting up the X-Wing? I am more a visual learner, and I feel it'd help me greatly.

There's a good one out there already about how to do an A wing (not mine). But when I finish my YT-1300 videos I'll make one for one of the small base ships.

And here's the finished YT-1300. Still have to edit the last two parts of the How-To video, but nothing preventing me from sharing the pictures.

So bright!

Obviously the Force Awakens Falcon - if the square dish didn't give it away, the JJ lens flare did! ;)

Haha, I sorta regret using 1mm LEDs up front - they're super bright compared to everything else on the ship, even after I dropped their voltage. And it comes down to everything else is diffused (the engine is powered by two LEDs, diffused first in a hot glue stick, then by the milk carton) and they're just chillin' out front. Perhaps I'll blind my opponents, and then someone can complain about the fact that Kylo is supposed to be the only one handing out blinded pilots :).

Just finished up a commissioned Ghost. I had to do a bunch of this away from my home, which resulted in me having to make due what a few round about things that I wouldn't have done normally (all four lights are 1mm LEDs - which was by design for the bottom two but I failed to bring the matching 3/5mm for the top two). I changed some things up from the first one I did and I think it came out much better than mine did. I suppose that's always a good sign when I like the work I do for someone else more than the work I did for myself.

Cheating a bit here because it's Armada, but I've posted everything else I've worked on in here, so oh well. I had a lot of fun messing with this ISD, to the point where I'm thinking about starting to play Armada now because I'll actually get to use the ships I light up.

From now on, the rest of my Armada mods will be in its own thread on the Armada forums:

I'm going to guess you used 300 Fiber optic lights.

Aha! I finished updating all of these links from Photobucket to Imgur. I can now close my Photobucket account.

I envy you. I have updated four pages of my forum thread. Still have 24 left...

Yeah, I was working behind the scenes on Wed/Thurs getting the Imgur all setup and organized. And then it was relatively easy to update the links in the threads. But I only had 6 pages to update...

Gosh it's been awhile since I've done any X Wing stuff. Armada has been taking all of my attention recently. I finished up two (well, actually 3, but one was Armada) projects this weekend. First up is a commissioned Decimator, and then a set of colored bases. Sadly, there's probably not going to be a lot more progress on my X Wing stuff as I have a huge customer backlog for Armada.

Here's a VCX-100 to go with that Decimator.

And here's the matching Attack Shuttle for that VCX-100.

That reminds me. Someday I need to get back to drilling out my Ghost's engines. (sigh) So many projects, so little time...

I really, really want one of those Star Destroyers, though, and I don't even play Armada.

Haha, right? I bought it just because I had the vision that it was going to be awesome...... Now I play Armada =P.

Finished up a Falcon this weekend.

Finished up a Raider on commission tonight. While it looks rather similar to mine, the details of how it works is much more user friendly.

Inspirational as always @Khyros !

Just lit up the att-2400. What a pain.

If I may ask, since I've yet to ever get around to doing one myself, what approach did you take? I originally was thinking about making the entire circuitry slide in and out through the engine, but the most I do other things, the more uncomfortable that approach makes me, and I just want to split it apart and treat it just like every other ship.
