Acrylic Templates: Where to get'm?

By Vineheart01, in X-Wing

Look on etsy for Highbridge Brewing, though - they have a good deal with a full set of templates plus the laser cut tray to carry them.

Heh. It tickles me how fast stuff travels through the grapevine.

A few months ago, a local player named Noel had a Highbridge Brewery tray, with holes cut out at the center, so in order to "eject" the templates, you had to lift the tray. I was like, "That's not a good design," and wrote the guy on Etsy, and asked for the same tray, but with cut-outs at the ends of each slot.

I bought a couple of other players in my group, and the tray is now everywhere.

Word does travel fast, I can attest. I'm the guy behind Highbridge http://www.etsy.com/shop/HighbridgeBrewing, and I've stayed busy making those trays.

I may be biased, but I think the wooden tray is indispensable when I play, and I'll take this opportunity to thank Jeff again for helping push a better design. (Noel ended up getting a replacement tray with the improvements on me. Couldn't have my early adopters being mocked by all those with the newest toys!)

While you're there, check out the acrylic damage deck holders.

It's hard to imaging going back to a pile of loose cards sliding around on the table.

I make a bunch of other tokens and templates as well. My goal is a simple, nice looking design that's clearly visible across the table. That, and I ship everything ready to play. No painting or peeling once you get them.

****. No shipping outside of the USA.......sad face

I could use some of them nice deck holders.

The clear one looks bigger, is that the case...I could totally use them for other games like Talisman and Twilight Imperium....Bahamas Im just teasing myself now...no international shipping

Do yourself a favor and get these excellent ones from CurledPawCustoms on Etsy.

I second the motion!

Anybody have a good site for a USA delivery for acrylic templates/tokens?

All i can find are obscenely overpriced ebay offers (upwards of 60+ for just the movement templates and no divided range ruler) or overseas websites that have a heft shipping price. So far the best ive found is Cogotwo even if it is overseas.

What do you consider a "hefty shipping price" ?

I have found shipping from the UK to be far FAR more reasonable than USA shipping.

I just don't understand why US shipping is so expensive these days and seems to be getting worse.

unless im ordering something rather bulky or from ebay i never pay more than $12 shipping locally. Overseas though, dont think ive paid less than 20 even for something basic.

Hell, ive ordered from places overseas just below the "Free Shipping!" threshold where it was actually cheaper to buy another 30bp or 30euro item than to ship it as is lol

Well, there is that whole ocean thing that is in the way.

But seriously, in the US shipping really isn't that expensive inside the country. I only ship things to Norway, as far as in europe, and that is pretty expensive. But I just attribute that to, well, it being Norway.

As someone who ships all over from the States, I agree that shipping from the US is ridiculous. I wish I knew why it costs so much. How can I buy a bag of magnets from China for $5 with free shipping, but I can't get 4oz to Europe for under $20? Even shipping a couple hundred miles North to Toronto is much more expensive than a few thousand miles to Alaska or Hawaii.

I know, he told me. (And how did you know we were mocking him?!) That is fantastic customer service. (I have two of your acrylic card-holders, and quite a few of your tokens. I particularly like the bombs, and your Extra Munitions are so much better than FFGs it's silly.)

What I've been wondering lately is whether it would be possible to get a template in high-quality wood, hinged on the short edge (or magnetized along the lip?), with a top compartment (not exactly the word, because it would be very shallow). So you'd be able to open this up length-wise along whatever edge you were playing on. As mentioned above, there's often not much room, so see if the layout could be slightly redesigned to save an inch or so?

How feasible do you think that is? (Not necessarily for you -- but if so, awesome! -- but in general? I primarily wonder how hard it is to laser-cut really good wood.)

The whole "not much room" thing is something I started thinking about right after my first tournament.

I actually made a prototype recently that's basically a tray split into two, each 5" wide that stack on top of each other for transportation. I added holes for magnets, and a lid (also magnetic). The magnets are on the way in, and I think I'm going to add some felt to the bottoms of the trays. I'll post a picture as soon as the prototypes are together, but I think it would be perfect for a crowded tournament table.

If you're going stackable, no reason to stop at two trays and a lid. Make it a modular set: "Large-ships tray!" "Swarm tray!" "Tokens tray!" And so on.

Seriously, go there, those are the top tier of templates and tokens. Got mine recently, all Imperial Black. Spectactular. Now waiting for my tokens, including cloak, tractor beam, and a super-pretty Emperor token.

Guy who runs the firm, Andrew Nuckols, is super nice, a true artist, and it sends you pictures on demand, makes customized orders, gives you permanent 20% discount after the first purchase, and whatnot. EXTREMELY recommended.

I love my Team covenant templates.

The curled paw tokens are a great deal compared to the completion. I like them a lot.

High bridge brewing template holder is a must have as well IMO.

Will the high bridge template holder securely hold my curled paw templates?

It should hold our shops templates quite well. I know a bunch of people who use them :)

FFG is giving them away like candy.

I have Litko clear orange ones I got from a local store when I forgot my cardboard... they were okay, felt kinda clunky

Then I got a set from Curled Paw, rebel logo on solid red. They we're my main templates for a very long time.

Then I got a set from Gold Squadron, black with gold/yellow lettering... I loves them.

But I keep looking at my buddies black/red Team Covenant templates...and I can't help but want them too....

Not only am I addicted to buying ships, but I want all the loot! Official and unofficial!

Shameless self promotion. I love it. Cost for the templates and the holder?

I wonder if I can order white templates with a black mandalorian skull emblem on them.

Well, how can I miss a call for a shameless promotion?

Basic trays start at $15 for the single piece tray with room for 3 range rulers. The popular version with the magnetic lid starts at $30, and there's various options available for paint, stain, and engraving, and different sizes to fit different gaming bags.

A full set of painted templates and range rulers (3) adds $25 to that, or you can mix and match with anybody else's. Anybody who makes dimensionally accurate templates will fit into the Highbridge tray. And if they don't fit... well, I guess you've got some really wonky templates you ought to think about replacing anyway.

Maybe, but not from Highbridge. Customization is great, but not with Disney copyrighted logos.

Closest I could find. Mirrored silver with dark blue. They're similar to and made by the same company I got my Imperial templates from, and I like them a lot.
