Hi, thanks for the feedback.
Gradients are tough at the beginning but not impossible.
First you need to get comfortable painting with thin, transparent layers.
Then you can add those up on top of each other in smaller and smaller areas to get the gradient. Mixing in some acrylic paint retarder to increase the drying time helps.
Something like this. In the example I just took the same colors on the top and painted with them set to 25% opacity. Thinned paint will work similarly.

Oh you have no idea how much time I spent in the collected repaints threads for Armada and X-Wing after the subforums disappeared. It's awesome thath they were brought back.
Continuing testing on a pale gray/brown/green Imperial scheme. Unfortunately won't have time to finish this until late August.
Meanwhile... something casual this way comes.

that stands out in comparison to a standard painted Phantom.
The Colour of the Tie makes the Cloak effect stand out more.
