The Boat...The facts

By The Jawa That Shot R2, in X-Wing

So I have been looking into this "on the boat" thing. Container ships travel at about 23 knots, which is around 27 mph. The imperial veterans have been on this boat for the last 2 months(ish). If we call that 60 days, that is 1440 hours. In that time the boat should have covered 38,880 miles. The earth is only 24,901 miles around. I think it missed the first time and decided to make a second pass? It's only 7,232 miles from China to the USA. It should have hit the USA for the 2nd time at 32,133 miles. This leads me to believe that it missed a second time. So...if we figure that it missed the second time approximately 6,747 miles ago, we have about 18,154 miles to go before it hits the USA for the 3rd time. At 27 miles an hour that will take about 28 more days (past the 60 day point). So, Imperial Veterans will ship on June 28th. Unless it misses again! :D

Numbers may not be exact but I think the theory is sound...

Was fun to read

they'll never make it across the ocean

uboats own those waters

Ah, but you've neglected the time it takes to deal with red tape (i.e., customs--potentially on both ends).

Don't forget about the lost time from developers opening all the ships and playing with them.

I still like my theory better. Street date of Thursday.

And the downtime the rowing crew has to take for sleep/food/bathroom breaks. We can't take those things away; that would be cruel.

That boat might be sailing a bit tooo casual!

And who knows how far away that is!

*too

Gives new meaning to the phrase slow boat from China

Who sails at night? Cut your estimates in half.

The boat clearly does not have white 4K turns for when it missed

"On the boat" included shipping them out to a significant fraction of distributors on Earth for wave 8. So add that in.

People keep forgetting how the time is variable depending on alien involvement.

I think they'll be available after the last system open.

Wait ... JBRS .. are you actually giving YOURSELF a GOOD POST award? WTF?!!! Is that even allowed?

Someday, when I grow up (I am only 75), I hope to get awarded a GOOD POST from JBRS.

Pretty sure "on the boat" is shorthand for "packed up at the factory, on the loading dock/truck/train/dock/boat waiting for the rest of the cargo/open sea/waiting in line to unload/dock/truck/loading dock/distributor's warehouse waiting for the specified ship date."

I think mine rolls off the tongue nicely, but apparently some people think pithiness is a virtue.
