Drasnighta's Wet Work
Trying the Native Uploader.
Pre-Washed here for my last set of work... Had to touch up the cannons ont he Gladiator, but I colour-matched and with a quick wash, they'll fit in with the other side.

So, if I may ask, what size brush do you use for your pinstripes on the interceptors? I'm attempting to do the rebel aces, and I have had to start over twice on dutch just because I cant get the yellow swoops even, no matter how little of a brush I use....
Try a strip of masking tape. Paint the edges, then remove.
Edited by cynanbloodbaneAn old Games Workshop "Standard" for 90% of my work.
I pick up a smaller (New Model GW Small Layer) for the smallest of bits and pieces - like the striping on the HWK-290s, or Punishing One.
But I like a bit of meat on the brush for Bloodstripes.
Is the Ivory basecoat on Punishing one a premade color or a custom mix? I love how it turned out on that ship. Ivory has been one color I have had trouble with making look right.
Straight GW Ushabti Bone. Two Coats (Thinned)
Over Black.
Normally, its over Grey, but I mis-primed it, and din't really matter that much between Black and Grey.
The wash it gets is generally 50/50 Agrax with Water.
If I'm feeling kinda Orangey, its Seraphim Sepia instead. But always 50/50 with Water, because I don't want it too intense.
I'm gonna order some of that tonight. I've been using a Vallejo ivory and it just ends up looking like crap. It's got some green in it or something, like it was meant for the camouflage on a tank.
I was already doing the sepia wash and grey primer, just didn't have the right paint to make it look right, especially combining that little but of orange from the sepia on top of the weird shade from the ivory.
I use Vallejo Game Colour Ivory as a substitute White on my Rebel Squadrons... Since its natural highlight is Off White .
That is a definite Bone Colour. Ushabti bone is a definite brown white bone... Screaming Skull is the lighter shade.
I do use GW's a lot, because I know if I get a bad pot, I can take the train into town and throw it at the store manager (who used to be my boss) and he'll replace it until its RIGHT.
Vallejos, I have to across town to get, and they often seem to have been frozen in transit to their Frigid north at some stage, and separate horridly...
So I'm one of the rare ones who will recommend GW, but I'm sure its entirely geographically and situationally set
Today, I (re) painted 4 Squads of TIE Bombers and 2 Squads of TIE Advanced...
Why Re-Painted?
Well, I had a local commission... The guy set up a baggie of his miniatures (just Minis, no stands or bases)... And handed it to me for painting...
... and then they promptly disappeared...
SO.
Finished his commission out of my Personal Supply...
So now, I'm down about 12 TIE Bomber Models and 6 Advanced... Don't care about the Advanced....
::facepalm::
Are those tubes the miniature modeling ones? Can't think of the name atm. . .
Nope. They're PVC Pipe. With holes drilled in 'em.
Because its easier to batch 'em that way.

Ahhhhh so my initial assessment was correct.
::shrug::
When you paint as many Fighters as I do
Yes.
Another Canon-Accurate pair of Red-Squadron Groups...
Wedge + 1 and 3
Luke + 4 and 6...
... Down to the Astromech Colours...
... Still needs a LOT of Touchups before washing... Macro is so very unforgiving versus the Naked Eye.
Well, one last final Commission on the Desk to go...
... Of course, its 9 Squadrons of Bombers, Plus Boba, Dengar, Advanced Escorts and Mauler.......
... All the TIEs with Bloodstripes, too. 181st for all!

Nice! Really wish I could get hold of some more firesprays to try different schemes out.
Also, Love the shark teeth on the YV666!
7 Firesprays...
Boba Fett.
Kath Scarlett.
Jango Fett.
Emon Azzameen.
Then some randoms... Ultra-clashy Purple/Yellow, and then just two flat colours to, well, basically, test how the colours go... Although I am liking the highlighting on the bone one at the end more and more...
Then the rest of the picture - Four Identical IG-2000s to finish, then a Hounds tooth... And the Shark Teeth was a bit of Fun - just to see how it works in that scale, and works it does
Look closer on the other side, and you'll see I've got a LOT of work to do - next up will be some proper shading before trying to tidy that line...
7?
You have 7 R&V fighter packs? Can you even field that many at one time?
I don't own these ones...
But it looks like the person who does bought 3 packs on their own, and then bought 4 additional firesprays, and 5 additional YT-2400s...
So, no, you don't use them
all at once...
But its the same as the Imperial Pack. 90% of people buy the Imperial Fighter Pack for TIE Bombers... TIE Bombers and TIE Bombers and TIE Bombers...
... never use all of the TIE Advanced or TIE Fighters you get
I swear we have about the same painting set up, Dras. Just add an ottlight and a tupperwear wet palette
I am liking the variation in the firesprays (particularly the high impact purple and yellow) but that YV-666 is just brilliant! Love it, I've been having issues with making the YV's look like anything special, but that is just terrific. Seriously well done mate
