What to use with 35 Points Imperial build

By Ronu, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have Echo and OL together and 35 points left. Certainly looking into a pair of blockers possibly but with only 35 points it's only 2 TIEs not 3 and overly obvious on what to take thoughts?

Echo: VI, FCS, Callous, ACD

OL: Juke, CR

Note: Agent Callous is on loan so I Don't have a Gonzati or access to those TIEs.

Edit: corrected error on build

Well, everyone will suggest Soontir Fel, since he's the 35 point imperial monster of choice for so many (with Push the limit, title, autothrusters & stealth device)

For me though, its not worth running him without an initiative bid, so I won't suggest it (although you can go ahead and try it if you like!)

In his place, I think you'd be better off with either of:

Inquisitor w/ PTL, title, autothrusters & proton rockets = 34

Or:

Carnor Jax w/ PTL, title, autothrusters & hull upgrade = 34

Probably Inquisitor is better here, but Carnor Jax is really nice in general, since he makes very good bait (your opponent will always want to kill Carnor before anything else). This lets your other ships get into good positions without getting blasted quite so much (although you have to be careful you don't lose Carnor in the process). That's assuming you are very good at flying interceptors though (since they are not easy to fly and take quite a bit of practice to not have them get blocked and blown up early in a match).

While both certainly Viable Blade, I'm really kind of thinking blockers here to set up shop and keep higher aces away from a Echo and set echo up for shots if I can trap said aces

Blockers don't really bring a ton of value to your list though. Echo certainly doesn't need it (and against other higher PS aces, Echo is actually an incredible blocker in his own right).

If you really want blockers, drop kallus for intel agent on Echo and take a trio of academies (can't get any better at blocking than that!)

Otherwise, I would say you have to drop Omega Leader to fit the academies in (or run 2 academies and a much more expensive ship than Omega Leader....)

1. You cant have ATC on Phantom.

2. As you have no bid i would add 35pts Vader (as he does not care) or 29pts palpshuttle and upgrade echo with jammer and gunner. 1 point left for baffle on shuttle or bid.

Actually you can just need anoth way to target lock. Though I was thinking FCS actually so thanks for pointing out the error.

Actually you can't. Read the card again.

Carnor would be my suggestion over Soontir in the current meta due to him being able to block Deadeye torpedo firing.

OL and Carnor is the core of a very good trip aces list right now.

Main problem is with Echo you want initiative to fire before your opponents PS8 ships (and theres a lot out there!) so pairing Echo with Carnor, Inquisitor, OL etc doesnt go so well, cause now you either have Echo fire last and Carnor/Inquisitor move last, or Echo fire first and Carnor/Inquisitor/OL move first. Same with Soontir. Echo fire first and Soontir move first before your opponents Whisper, OL, Palps list? Creates conflict. Carnor is probably safest as he can move first and get to where your opponents PS8 are moving then they can't take focus/evade.

Sienar test pilot + title is 17pts. Could fit two in your list. Probably the best blockers in the game right now.

Echos decloak really takes people off guard. The banking action can have her face almost any direction after movement and without stress. She's quite dangerous in that she can block with the decloak, and then move to a firing position or just defensively to get out of arc. Flying her well takes a lot of practice, but I think in the hands of the right pilot, she's more of a threat than Whisper.

All that being said, Yorr+Palp comes in at 32 points. Yorr can defend against the stress that can utterly destroy Echo by taking away the cloak action. Throw Baffle on him to keep his ability in play and you'll still have 2 points for a bid or to adjust anything else. Maybe upgrade to Sensor Jammer on Echo.

My apologies totally missed the AX-1 part. Thanks for pointing it out.

Or for 34 Pts you could add Inquisitor, PTL, title, Autothrusters, Proton Rockets.

My personal favorite build for Echo is Intelligence Agent, Sensor Jammer, VI, and ACD. With Echo, being able to see where one of your closer opponents is going to end up before you decide where to decloak can be huge.
