"Inverted" Fel

By RogueLeader42, in X-Wing Squad Lists

We all know, a classic playstyle for our beloved Baron is a defensiv combination of PTL, AT, SD. Or PTL, AT, TC.

But what if we take away PTL and add EI?

We have nearly the same effect. Gaining a Focus by stressing through EI. But now there is the possibility to make an Action: header action.

Has anyone tried this?

Soontir Fel (33)
TIE Interceptor (27), Royal Guard TIE (0), Rage (1), Autothrusters (2), Experimental Interface (3)

Gaining up to 4 focus tokens in one turn. Being more offensive. Crippling himself with to much stress?

What other EPT would you use?

I was thinking about building a list around such a combo.

Trouble is that after letting off that Stress bomb, you will take 2 turns to clear it during which time Fel cannot take any actions. And an actionless Fel is usually a dead Fel. :(

Maybe if you had Yorr nearby you could make it work but that means tethering Fel to a shuttle which restricts his options. Rage is a powerful EPT but it really only works on a few key pilots who either ignore stress or actively benefit from it (Tycho, Keyan and Ezra spring to mind).

Or 1-2 Royal Guards with wingman. Question ist: is the gain worth the expence?

Also, that he loses the ability to both boost AND BR in the same turn which massively impacts his arc dodging.

I think Tycho is the only person who can really use Rage at the moment, though Ezra is also an argument.

Keyan and 4LOM can make use of it, but they're too fragile right now to be relied upon.

4 Green Squadrons with Rage, Deadeye, Missile and Chips are alright.

The trouble with that, as with any use of it by something that can't clear multiple stresses in a round, is the round after when you're as good as bumped AND facing the wrong direction. If you don't nuke everything, and you won't nuke everything, you're a predictable, action-less z95.

I want to try RAGE on some things, but it's so tough finding anything it feels right on. I'm kind of wondering about RAGE on a Defender witha Bomber Buddy actually, particularly Ryad. She'll be able to keep at least one token, possibly 3 with help, on the turn after the initial exchange, and still get guns on target.

Similaly, RAGE Soontir does sound fun, just RAGE and SD/AT. Go in hot, RAGE, 4-straight out the other side, hard 2, boost, repeat. Fast slashing attacks disengaging each run rather than sticking in the knife fight.
