The point is: I'll be driving hours to get there, and hours to get back. I doubt that I'll win the tournament, so why not play three whole games, rather than just two?

Nice try. After my depressing loss against Naboobo2000, I am not coming into this with much expectation to win. I expect clontroper5 to win unless 2 of his opponents run and limit his score to 7-3's and below

The other thing for me is that since I'm trying to fully document/photograph the event, the Bye would give me a couple hours to wander around and snap a picture of everyone's list etc.

But that means we get one less first hand battle report by you for your games. I would much rather see 3 detailed battle reports of your games than 2. (I am being purely selfish here)

At our AZ Regional I think I won't use the bye. Our TO has already advised it is a normal 8 point 129 MOV bye. I would rather play 3 games and I think I should be able to do better than 129 MOV and secure a better 8-10 point win providing I don't get a horrible matchup. Most of the good players will be using byes anyway so hopefully I won't be playing one of them round 2. They will cannibalize each other and the extra 1-2 points I can get in the first round will allow me to be able to afford a 7-3 or even 6-4 victory along the way.

It's riskier but my goal is to win the tournament so I want to give myself the best chance of getting the most amount of points each round.

Well, all is not right with the world...

In 3 games Clonisher never once Successfully killed an enemy ships off of a triple tap, it executed 2 in perfect form. This toppled the activation advantage and order I carefully laid out and lead to Raiders getting one shot by 4 dice attacks...

I walked away with 8 tournament points

Still really confused by the fact that the triple Tap left a motti VSD on the board with 3 hull...

I have NEVER failed to kill an Medium ship and I did tonight...

No, we were kicked out at midnight so dice were done by 1140pm.

It was fine. My loss against ArmadaJim was 2 fold. He deployed in a way I was not used to amd so my subsequent deployment was off which left my Firepower out for the game for a while. That and a few bad moves and speed choices cost me my fleet. I did foil a goal of his, which was to keep an MC30 from being able to sneak into close range. He just left the space open. . . and I took it. Then I moved badly.

Jim did a fantastic job of rattling me but I wasn't super upset about the game. After the game I designed a deployment method to stop what he did so we shall see in the future.
