is it okay to use Micromachine X-wing in tournament.

By JimbonX, in X-Wing

I agree it really depends on the venue. But the tournament rule are clear. Also some people are just picky and others just want to have fun.

It is okay to have fun.

A little bit of time travel?

Someone said this if from the movie Airplanes.

Ooooo, is that a secret level from Time Pilot?

They would work great for ships NOT in the game yet!

Ban Micromachines!

if someone spends 2-3G's on Xwing they have spending issues.

I dont even see how thats possible without buying several repeats of expensive ships, which has no point to do.

I'm somewhere in the $1500/2K range if you include my mats (4), custom tokens and range sets (several) and ships (an absolute ton)

Why would you bring a fake to a officially sanctioned company event?

Because you can (if you could, of course. But you can't).

After all, Battlefront charge eight quid for a Panzer IV G, but I can get them for half that price from PSC, and still use them in official Flames of War tournaments. It's not really that odd a question. One that would have been answered without recourse to the forum by actually reading the tournament rules, but that's a different issue. :)

Admittedly you'd need to somehow have more X-Wing dials than X-Wings ...

It's like that time when I brought Ring Raiders into a tourney. And won. Boy was everyone pissed.

I'm just going to leave this here...

I guess now I know why FFG hasn't released the colored bases yet. Imagine all the proxying that can be done with them.

So the red ones are X-wings, the blue ones are B-wings, the orange ones are Y-wings for Gold Squadron. The Green ones are A-wings even though none of the A-wings in green squadron were ever painted green. <_<

You're doing it wrong. Red bases are for Rebels since red lasers, green bases are for Imperials since green lasers, and orange bases are for Scum since I said so (and also a few art cards show slightly orange tinted lasers).

Dials and tokens would be a much bigger problem than the models themselves.

What's with all the "buy less Starbucks" crap though? Instead of acting like privileged jerks maybe suggesting that borrowing ships would be an option? Wargaming is an expensive hobby whether it be $40 for Crossfire or $3k for 40k... making it accessible to all should be a goal for all of its adherents.

Since when is telling someone to save up money for something they want a bad idea?

suggesting that borrowing ships would be an option?

Because borrowing ships is at best a short term fix. I may borrow someone one of my ships once or twice, but after that point you should buy your own toys. It's not up to me to subsidize someone else's hobby.

No one's asking you to... what's bad is the implication that a filthy poor doesn't already know how to save money.

Suggesting legal alternatives to Micro Machines needn't involve callous libertarian garbage like mocking a person's financial status.

Yah knows... I used to hate your lizard guts because of DAT... but then ARMADA was released... Now you are just fine and dandy in my books.

:D :P ;)

You're x-wing ships only get expensive once you add them all up. For example I have both core sets, x-wing exp, tie adv. exp, 2 HAWks, tie int. exp, e-wing exp, decimator, YT-1300, imp.

Shuttle, rebel aces, and more coming. Your talking lots of money to be able to be awesome at tournaments.

Using MicroMachines stuff in casual- Sure. I'd be fine with that once in awhile, as long as it wasn't a permanent thing. After a few games I'd want my opponent to buy the actual expansion. For testing purposes or something like that I don't see a problem.

Using them in a tournament- No way. Per the Tournament Rules- "Players may use only official Star Wars: X-Wing™ Miniatures Game components in tournament play. Proxies of cards and ship models cannot be used."

So simply put, if you are going to get involved in the Formal/Premier events, buy the ship.

The toys are only good for making space wreckage.
