The Gear Locker: Security S-5 Heavy Blaster Pistol

By GMRen, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

What's that you need something special? Come in, come in, welcome to the gear locker. Now what do you need?

Welcome to the first in a semi regular series talking about tools, weapons, and armour. Today we'll be talking about Security S-5 Heavy Blaster Pistol, with its 7 damage crit rating of 3, range of medium, and 1 Hard point. You might wonder "Why would I choose this over the normal Heavy blaster pistol? I mean it about twice as much." The ansewr is in the fluff section. Acording to the book it has a built in grappling hook which can be used to pull you to an object(or the object to you) and if you're willing another character as well. So with a decent Brawn and Agility, this might be a good way of justifying training your Ranged(Light) skill instead of Athletics, to get up those walls. And if you have Atetics as well, then you can pull up your teammates as well. You can help with the Hard point problem by picking up a rank in Tinkerer bringing it up to Two hard points.

See you next time, when we continue looking at Keeping The peace and moving on to the Site-145 replica blaster pistol.

Wait...

Is this a blaster you created, or is it in a book somewhere? How much is it? And would you take a jubba bird in trade?

Yep.

Wait, wait, wait.

Wait.

How tasty is that jubba bird?

Mama did pass down a tasty baked jubba recipe. But, you gotta know, once you put 'em in the oven, they stop singing.

Let me get my datapad...

I can easily see this pistol being a solid choice for Marshal PCs that want a solid "all-in-one" weapon. Not a lot of modification options with only one Hard Point, but that's still enough for Superior.

Or if you're a dual-wielding character who don't mind the encumbrance this is a solid weapon to carry around for the grappling hook alone. You can always use another, more extensively modified blaster for your "main" weapon.
