Links for Newbs!

By cjk1975, in Star Wars: Armada

Is there a set link like in the Xwing group for different links for podcasts, fleet builders and articles for the new guy wanting to join the capital ship fight????

A brother would love some recommendations. I'm looking at coming into the fray and balance between Armada and X-Wing both

List Builders:

I also point my new players to Concentrate Fire in addition to the links above.

Please feel free to check out the link in my signature to the upgrades post. Those are super helpful for new players to understand (both which upgrades are good/will be used as well as which upgrades will likely get used against them).

Excellent gents!! TY so much for the info!!

Whew! For a second I had read 'Links for newds'.

Dano, stay on target

With all do respect to all the other amazing bloggers, I agree that Biggs' articles are the perfect place to start. He spells out what role each ship can play, what upgrades do and where they are appropriate to use, and also has articles about things like obstacle placement. He even takes requests if you need advice or have a burning question.
The other blogs are great too; for example Schmitty and Truthiness both write about specific lists they've built and how they've worked for them. This is a great place for ideas about where to start with list building and see what ships and upgrades work well together, and then you can personalize your list from there based on your own play style. My two most successful lists were inspired by lists I found on each of their blogs, tailored to my own preferences.

I'd definitely recommend Armada Jim's Fire When Ready over Intensity Forward Firepower for newbies. IFF is hilarious and good discussion, but if you want knowledge, hit FWR up first.

I now feel like the IFF guys will come and find me to discuss my opinion like Liam Neeson found the kidnappers in Taken. :o;)

I second that. I've been an IFF listener since last summer but I can see how it might not be the best place for a new player. I admit that I ignored FWR when it first came out since I figured that I was already pretty experienced by then but I recently started listening and I have gotten a lot out of it. Keep up the great work, Jim!
