Rebel Fleet for Regionals

By Artifixprime, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm hoping to make the Regionals in Dublin (Ireland) this weekend. It's not likely to have a huge crowd, but who shows up and with what fleets is anybody's guess so, this is the Rebel fleet I've been kicking about. It's intended to be a generalist fleet with a bit of everything.

Rebels Fleet (378 of 400 pts)
Commander: General Dodonna (20 pts)
Flagship: (87 pts)

  • Assault Frigate Mark II B(72 pts)
  • Intel Officer (7 pts)
  • Redundant Shields (8 pts)

Fleet Ship 1: (53 pts)

  • CR90 Corvette A(44 pts)
  • Jaina's Light (2 pts)
  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7 pts)

Fleet Ship 2: (58 pts)

  • Nebulon-B Support Refit(51 pts)
  • Salvation (7 pts)

Fleet Ship 3: (63 pts)

  • Nebulon-B Support Refit(51 pts)
  • Yavaris (5 pts)
  • Ray Antilles (7 pts)

Squadrons (117 of 134 pts):

  • 2x B-Wing Squadron (28 pts)
  • 1x Keyan Farlander B-Wing Squadron (20 pts)
  • 1x YT-1300 (13 pts)
  • 2x YT-2400 (32 pts)
  • 1x Outrider - Dash Rendar (24 pts)

Objectives: Most Wanted , Hyperspace Assault , Minefields

Salvation and Yavaris move together, ideally on a slow roll from one side diagonally across the board with the B-Wings out front.

The AF2 will be spamming Nav commands to keep it around speed 2-3 while having another click if needed and the CR90 is there to be a nuisance. The YT-2400s will likely follow the AF2 as cover or additional firepower, but I won't be shy about feeding them to a Rhymerball if needs be.

Opinions?

I would consider moving the Intel officer onto Salvation making the Flagship a little less of a target and the occasional glorious volley from Salvation's double damage crit dice makes the "use it & loose it" choice on the enemy brace more agonising.

I would also feel a little safer with ECM on the flagship rather than repairing a shield a turn which does you no good if the enemy concentrate fire to kill you in one turn.

I've had the same thoughts about the Intel Officer too and have been flop-flopping between the AF2 or Salvation. My concern is that I may not make best use of it on Salvation as it may not be in range for a few turns, where as the AF2 may be and might force the loss of a token that Salvation can capatilise on later in the game.

Also - Dash or Han? I have the points to take either.

I see that you are going for a huge bid, but Yavaaris needs to be an escort frigate, not the support refit.

I, as a matter of personal preference, would change your 3 Bs to Scurggs and the yt1300 to an X. It costs the same since you currently have Keyan, but also gives you more maneuverability. If you do that, though, you'd need to add in either Jan or the plain HWK because Scurggs suck with AS. If that get too far from your original intent, then just drop Keyan to a B so you can take the Escort Yavaaris. The extra double tap you get from that is better than the conditional reroll you get from Keyan. You seemed content to move along slowly.

I've never used Han, but I am a religious user of Dash. I like his bomber and reroll abilities. Han's first activation seems nice, but you still only get to use him once per round, and he's slower. Perhaps someone else can speak to Han's utility to counter my Dashism.

Some points:

- You never take Yavaris as a Support variant. Why would you?

- Intel officer goes on Salvation; the AF lacks the firepower required to make good use of IO.

- Ideally Salvation should have TRC - or possibly Slaved Turrets.

- Redundant shields is not a good way to spend 8 pts. It's either ECM, AP - or go naked with Lando. Depends on your meta.

- You lack the ability to kill enemy fighters or bombers

- You lack the ability to push your bombers to target (no speed, no intel)

Fix some/all of those and you have a solid fleet that with good play can do well.

Sorry - don't know what happened to the points there, the points come in at 398 with Dash or 400 even with Han for me?

Had I extra points then I'd swap the B's for Scurggs as you suggest and add a HWK.

I'm kinda partial to the YT-1300 though as it's counter 1 is just enough to annoy people :)

I think I'm with you on Dash though, the re-roll and having "bomber" has helped me many times in the past.

@Green Knight: thanks for the ideas

Wasn't able to incorporate all your suggestions - not enough points.

I've swapped the B's, Kyan and the YT-1300 for 2xY's, Dutch and Wedge. Salvation has been bumped to an escort frigate and I've added slaved turrets. Would prefer TRCs I think, but I need to find one more point somewhere as I like having the option of using more than one arc if I have the option.

Make sure you get the frigates the right way round. Yavaris should be the Escort (2 squadron) and Salvation should be the Support.

How about the following. It broadly keeps what you have planned with a few tweaks. It's got 8 squadrons to take 4 deployments giving you 8 deployments overall. With Tantive feeding Yavaris squadron tokens you have 7 squadron activation's which is enough for all your non-rogues. Jan helps keep Wedge and the Xwing alive and you have the Wedge/Dutch combo. You could switch the YT2400 and a Ywing to 2 more Xwings for some more Escort coverage and just not squadron activate a Ywing until you clear any enemy fighters.
