I just hit 100 ships by getting a second Iggy last week and a second Punishing One this week! However I am not done getting all that I want.

I plan on getting 3 of all expansions that have small ships - Cores, Aces, Singles, Most Wanted, etc. Now this does double the numbers for the Scum ship conversions!

I have acquired two of each except a second Mist Hunter. Wanting to have a decloaking Mist Hunter (like the one from Polda, on pg 45 of the Concise/Collected repaint thread)

I definitely want to get 3 of the Imperial Veterans, shooting to get two right out of the gate.

I plan on getting a second of all the large ships - Have the two mentioned above so far and have only one of each of the others. Do I buy the second YT1300- Millennium Falcon expansion? or the Heroes of the Resistance for the second or Both! Have to really weigh out the cards that come with the first to decide I guess.

But I think that my Scum larges may be more...

I would like to have 4 Aggressors - Well because you can for epic play! Each painted with a unique scheme.

I would love to have 3+ Firesprays for scum. The paints to match the pilots and maybe a few extra good ones.

The Epics - I have one of each

One mission calls for 3 transports so I could do that and it gives me more X-Wings - That is the name of the game anyways.

A second Gozanti seems really cool for the colored ties and such.

A second Raider is a large stretch, but what about the Tie Advanced?

A second CR-90 I don't see unless I want to get it re-painted or get it scrapped into debris.

Well there are some of my thoughts on what I want to collect and some reasons why. What are you going to do? Do you have what you need and looking forward to what comes out for your faction? Are you a completist like me and have to feed that addiction?

It's a simple formula: X + 2. X is equal to my current number of ships. I always need more.

I dont have any size or number limit to my fleet however I find there is a strong correlation between the number of ships I own and any and all extra spending money I have.

I used to buy 100 pts worth of any ships that came out. However I find I never use 4 Starvipers or 4 tie phantoms. Some ships just have to have upgrades. So now I buy what I plan to fly, and I buy more if I find I need more of those upgrades or if I want to try a squad with more of those ships.

I get one to three of everything. For the Huge Ships I have two of each except for the Raider. The core ships are more important to me as an X-EPIC Winger, so I get seven or more of these front-liners.

My totals are in my sig, and you can see everything I own in my profile.

For a newer player I would get what I love first... meta-crap-be-damned. Buy what you love. Then you can build around that, and have fun.

I have 7 TIE fighters and would like a whole squadron, so at least five more of them. I have two defenders and two bombers, so two Imperial Veteran packs will give me a flight of each. I have five X Wings and would like at least one more for a demi squadron. Four B Wings is probably enough for now, and I've only got three A Wings so at least one more of them. Another 2 Y Wings will give me four, so they're on the list as well.

I'd like another Rebel transport, so that will probably take care of that last X Wing I need. I've only got two TIE Advanced, so I'd like another 2 at least of them. I've got four Interceptors, so that's probably enough for now.

I mean eventually, I'd like 12 of everything. Well, everything that's canon anyway, I'm not really interested in most of the EU stuff.

Alright, so I've written up a purchasing plan stretching multiple years into the future which I've arbitrarily split into £100 "phases" (the numbers work out nicely in the UK, with small ships at £10 and large ships/aces packs at £20). Currently I'm wrapping up phase 2, at the end of which I'll pretty much have one of everything from the first 3 waves and the aces packs. Phase 3 is a second core, rebel transport and gozanti. Phase 4 is scum, my favourites of wave 4, and imperial veterans. Phase 5 is currently the TFA phase, with rebel veterans assumedly thrown in. Phase 6 is probably where I go back and start buying multiples of my favourite ships. At the moment I have 15 ships and by the end of the current plan I'd have 50+. Multiple movies and waves would have been released, the list probably would have changed dramatically, and I'd be in a completely different place in life, possibly having lost interest in x-wing (thought I doubt it), so who knows how things will actually turn out.

@Chucknuckle - I feel that 3 of each should get me everything that I would need and I just can't say no to anything that they throw out there. So that is my weakness! I never read any of the books, but if the world of Star Wars keeps getting bigger than I am all for it. If you want to stick with OT then I salute you!

Seriously though, I had no plans to get as involved as I have. I went from buying 10 Rebel fighters and the Falcon from a buddy for $40 bucks to nearly 50 total. It scares me.

I'm at around 67, only missing the raider, g1a, and ghost. Actually having trouble justifying buying anything else for tournament entry. I don't want the raider or ghost, so g1a and ships for cards it is.

And imperial vetrans of course already preordered.

I NEED MORE NEW STUFF TO BUY FFG!

@Bentham - I did that on a few purchases. First the online stores asked why I had stuff in my cart and hadn't purchased yet. Then if I could get to the $100 mark for ordering my wife would find something else to spend the money on, so I said that if she was going to purchase something before I got to order my large orders then she needed to at lease get me a ship or two off of Amazon! There was a time when my wife ordered me 2 tie interceptors for my B-day and they sent me 7. So I traded them off at local stores. When Tax season came along I did a few big purchases. So pre-planning is a way to get it done!

@Sanguinary Dan - I hear you. Just about a year ago I bought the core set at a Local Book store.

A question for you guys with around or more than 100 ships. Do you guys display your ships when not in use or do you just keep them in storage containers when not playing? I have a glass hutch where I display mine when not in use, but I only have 44 ships, weak sauce compared to Joe Boss or beowolf777 collections. Only reason I ask is because I think it would be awesome to have such a massive Starfighter fleet on display, though I understand having enough space to do that may be hard!

My goal is:

1-2 of every expansion (whichever gets me 2 of every small base ship and 1 or the large and huge) and a few extras of things I like. I'm about 75% complete through wave 8 with about 50 total. Can't wait for Imp Vets to get my 2nd Bomber and 2nd Defender.

Now, in my 'I just won the lottery world,' I would have a minimum of one to two full 12 ship squadrons of all the support/elite/specialty small base ships like E's, HWK's, Defenders and Star Vipers and a full 36 ship Fighter Wing of the main line ships like X's, Y's, Interceptors and Khiraxz. And of course, I would need 48-72 of the 'cheap' types like Z's and Ties.

@AdmiralThrawn - I know that if they sped up production that many would not be happy. I myself like the pace in order to purchase what I want from older sets and be able to get the new plastic as well, but for the life of me I want to know what is coming next. I want to see more so much that they are just staying too quiet for my tastes and need for my fix. So excited for Veterans!

@Evenflow30 - I have mine in storage. I just moved from a large house to a smaller one and with my roleplaying games on the shelves in the living room. The magic cards in there as well I just cannot find room for it. My daughter gave me an early Father's day gift, which she got the $200 Yoda for $20 from the Wal-mart she works in. I mentioned to the wife that I was going to move her painted porcelain dolls over in her curio cabinet (family heirloom) and put him in there and I got the look that changed my mind. Who knows I might get a display someday!

@pickirk01 - Well when I enlisted just before wave 6 I thought of the two ship rule, but that darn Imp Aces just threw it all out of whack. So I then thought of at least having three ships with each paint job. Oh "Lottery World"... wouldn't that be nice!

Because I've already gotten the 3rd Binyare Pirate base topper + card from a trade elsewhere...

Then its stripping them all down to bare plastic and repainting them directly as Kath and her Pirates...

THEN its a matter of seeing what Cast-off Upgrade cards I can get from others to make something fun to play... because I don't feel like doing anything more than that one thematic list...

I buy as many of base ships that will fit into 100 point squads minus 2 or max 4, and then see if an aces pack will come out. Bombers were at 4 ships for awhile and now that Veterans is coming out I'll aim to get 2 of those. I have as many ships in my sig but I'll always be getting more. I just have to pace my buying. I aim to keep it at $40 a month so I don't get too many ships that I can't even try them out.

This is why I have been meaning to buy into X-Wing for the past 2 years...

... But have been playing Armada from the Get-Go.

I just can't get excited about X-Wing the way I do with Armada, with the ways the communities are different (Not Better, Not Worse, just Different)

Not more than fit on a shelf in a glass fronted cabinet in my study! Currently at about 45 (mainly small ships) and awaiting Imp Vets. I am unlikely to buy many more large ships and do not plan to buy Epic, however nice they are. My main aim is to use all the ships - but I play solo or casual with friends.

I have stopped buying ships, will purchase two Imp Vets and then full stop till Wave 9. Over 300 ships, and the game evolves towards new frontiers far away from the OT. We play X wing a lot but my impresion is that we will share our time. X wing is a beast and very, very player friendly.

But we are slowly talking again about Advanced Squad Leader, Starter Kits to those who have forgotten the rules and Critical Hit's early war modules to those who remember the rules.

Probably re-start ASL slowly this summer, so +/- 310 ships is enought. We will play X wing for sure, but perhaps the 400 pts games will be out and Red Barrocades will be in. Played it twice as Chukov. This time I will lead STG IIIs
