Dear Santa (FFG ToI WishList)

By DPalmer43, in Tide of Iron

Things I wish were available from FFG for ToI (in no particular order)

1) An Eastern Front expansion. Let's get the Russians into the mix! Red bases (dark red) or maybe black? Gotta be different enough from the dark green and greys that we already have. Maybe blue?

2) A CD available with a complete mission/scenario editor. Shoot, pack it with a map expansion even. But a COMPLETE editor for someone to make their own scenario from all of the expansions.

3) Blister packs with armor. (i.e. Six (6) Shermans and six (6) M-10's in an "American Armor Blister pack"). So that we who want to expand without buying a new base set can do so. Wouldn't you pay $12.95 for something like that? (pulled the price out of thin air, btw).

4a) Blister packs with infantry. How 'bout 10 green bases with 30 regular infantry and 10 elite for the "American Army Pack" and do the same for the Germans and British. Again, gives us who wants to expand the abilty to without having to buy more expansions or base sets.

4b) Blister packs with mortar and machine gun crews. This time, maybe mix 'em up and give 5 bases and 5 each of mortars and machine guns.

5) Miscelleous bits blister pack. A blister pack with extra minefields, razor wires, pillboxes, etc... Nothing huges. $4.99/pack. You're telling me it's that tough to produce THAT?

OK...that's my list (off the top of my head). Personally, I think that they could make some serious $$$$ without even touching #1 above by simply repackaging what they currently have! If sales are slowing, break out the bits from their sets and start selling it piecemeal (and make more money!).

So...what are YOUR ideas and wishlists for ToI?

Advanced Rules

Merry Christmas FFG Staff!

Wish list:

1. Designer Series Vol.2: Advance Rules

2. Urban Warfare Module. Replete with full mapboard sections, streets, houses with rooms, multiple floors and cellars, governmental buildings, churches, industrial buildings, courtyards, squares. Note: The urban mapboards would not necessarily require use of the traditional ToI hexagonal grid system. This module would be able to support multiple scenarios including: Villers-Bocage, Operation Market Garden, Stalingrad, Invasion of the Ruhr, St. Lo, Caen, Assault on the Reichstag, etc.

3. Operation Market Garden Module. This module would include new terrain components including: wide rivers, long bridges, etc.

4. A complete ToI scenario editor that supports all expansion sets.

5. ToI Army Builder program.

6. 2nd Edition Rules.

7. Updated FAQ database.

8. Support for ToI VASSAL play.

you have nailed it all for me. definitly campaign packs e.g. markey garden with additional figures/units.

love to see some recce vehicles greyhound , Puma, daimler/staghound etc. Also churchill tank (british MBT) and bren carriers and correct brit european theatre infantry figs and DAK figs!.

how about a parratrooper expansion for all nations with figs and scenarios etc

In no particular order, except for number 1:

1.) Eastern front

2.) Vehicle expansions (new ones + more of the ones we already have)

3.) Snow maps (map pack expansion 2)

4.) Extra desert maps ( map pack expansion 2 and/ or 3)

5.) Extra army packs (indeed don't feel like buying another Days of the Fox or Base game, but would buy more British tanks for example

6.) Terrain tile expansion (jungle, forested hills (2 cover), trenches, orchards, corn fields, wide rivers, mountain etc.)

7.) Scenario book volume 2 (including Eastern front )

8.) Pacific expansion

9.) Any news on whether they're working on any of the above at all.....

After seeing a picture of the Horus heresy game board, I could not help but think of

- 3D map elements, such as hills, large buildings, bunker systems and other cool stuff...

Add the following: 20mmQuad AAgun, Self propelled artillery(105 M7 Priest, 150 Hummel, etc.), Armored cars, and Aircraft? Also, what about some wrecks? And a mobile HQ? (Note: I'm thinking of all the variety of units in my favorite RTS game Company of Heroes.) Larger scale AT guns and some towed artillery pieces? Maybe all of these could be combined in the upcoming Eastern Front expansion we are all wishing for?

Something like this perhaps....

So I was trying to think of a way FFG could create an expansion that would satisfy several fans of ToI by significantly expanding the game but at minimal cost and time on the part of FFG so they can also focus on other games they are working on.

A Urban Map Expansion pack could do this because it would require no new plastic. The pack could feature 9 double sided urban boards along with terrain overlays that would allow players to customize the maps to look like specific urban battles (An Eiffel Tower, Brandenburg Gate, and Reichstag token for example). This would allow FFG to simultaneously expand both Eastern and Western Front game play. New scenarios could include the liberation of French and Italian cities, Stalingrad, and the capture of Berlin. A historical fiction scenario could allow all three allied nations to hit Berlin Simultaneously in a massive battle.

I agree wholeheartedly. This is essential, perhaps with some official scenarios to go with it.

And also sell army packs because I need some more russian infantry and do not feel like buying the whole set again.

Or better yet, support the fan base by publishing a 'fan based scenario' book, where quality fan-based scenarios are published with a nice layout. FFG had a contest some time ago, and then they recieved 5 good scenarios. Pick the 20 best fan-based scenarios.

First reaction when i looked at the units stats, i was like "cool the germans have strong MGs and an extra tough tank King Tiger". But then to see what the US had. Maybe tougher elites, extra officer skills, or an AT gun. I saw none. And i was sad to see that the add on wtih Brits was standard units again.

Point being. I like to see variation amongst the factions, that leads to balance. Not standardization. Dissapointed to find out that the US had a unique strategy like the AT gun in a expansion only to be out done by the pak in the later expansion.

I agree with some army packs. But of new units. Like rangers or ostwinds. Something to mix things up. And stop making evenly balanced counter parts.

More variety between the nations would certainly be nice.

I think the operations cards do a good job of making the squads differnt from scenario to scenario, maybe some more specific cards in the future would be good

And some more Division Cards for famous formation, such as Rangers, Brandenburgers, SAS & LRDG, Screaming Eagles, Commandos etc.
