Sarone's Star Wars: Hutts Space Chronicles (Season 1) OOC

By Sarone, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi all. Sorry to not respond sooner, I've been completely frazzled by exams and didn't see the thread go up (blame me and my ridiculous devotion to actual revision; I need to sort my priorities).

I shall be playing as Lynna Sellua, a Twi'lek Gunslinger and pilot. Prior to meeting the group, she's been travelling the galaxy seeking adventure, excitement, and pretty much anything that will get her out of an arranged marriage to a slimo back on Ryloth. In her time away she has performed pretty much every job in the galaxy - as a courtesan aboard a Hapan pleasure liner, as a bilge-scourer on a Raxus Priman junker, and a dozen other jobs across the length and breadth of the galaxy. Her last job prior to entering Bargos' service went wrong however, and left her spending six months longer than intended married to a lovesick Toydarian. Fleeing at last, she made her way to Hutt Space, as a convenient place to disappear from any of the various forces looking to track her down. While in her flight she acquired first a ship, then a motley crew that joined her as she fled down the Corellian Run, and then to Hutt Space - a Duros archaeologist, a Twi'lek thief, a Human gambler, a Mirialan soldier and a Klatooinian slicer. She assumes she can find safety at the far end, but that may prove elusive. Not that she minds of course: she appreciates the challenge.

I was thinking more ad hoc for the purpose of the campaign. While I don't mind a Lynna meeting or even knowing a few characters, she would not have her own ship. Hence the extra grand for everyone to have.

Awesome, Col., thanks for joining us!

As an FYI to Sarone, et al.: I will be traveling out of state for a friend's wedding from Sat-to-Sun, and given the holiday weekend, I may (weather permitting) spend Sunday night camping before returning home.

All told, I will be back in the office Tuesday morning, but all points from Friday evening to Tuesday morning I may be anywhere from a friend's guest room, to the hotel, to the middle of 800+ square miles of forest.

With it being Memorial Weekend I was not expecting everyone to have access to the internet. That being said, I want to get some additional dice rolling done first.

I should at this point emphasise the awkwardness of my own weekend as on Friday night I have my school leavers' ball (or prom, to those of you across the pond) and then from Saturday through to Monday I shall be in the woods reenacting a part of the Battle of the Wilderness (1864). Thus if we start on Saturday then until Monday evening you'll have a very quiet pilot, though that may not be a problem.

Sweet. Hopefully it goes good for you and your classmates.

Which side of the pond are you from?

I call it prom...but I find it odd that a non-American would be reenacting a battle from the American Civil War.

I am British, but I reenact the American Civil War (and some British stuff, but that's much less fun). It confuses lots of people, though mostly along the lines of why I reenact, not why I reenact the ACW.

It's cool, there's quite a few people who want to bring some life into history, not have it be dull and boring.

So is it looked at like "Look, they couldn't even make it 100 years without us?" over there then? haha.

Eh, it probably more along the same lines of the other ancient battles and tales of heroism.

Looks good Sarone!

Thanks. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

In addition, I need two rolls from each Player (Primary and Alternate)

First Roll:

I need every to roll their starting credits. If you rolled in recruitment, you can either post it here or re-roll it, keeping the higher of the two. If you have not rolled, you can roll twice and keep the higher result.

Second Roll:

I need a Force Die roll from each player, subject to the Destiny Pool Rules. I am looking at both Alternate and Primary players here, since everyone is sharing a trip.

Last but not least, your benefactor has seen fit to book you passage to Nar Shaddaa on Fool's Errand, a Gozanti-class Armed Transport. However, because the ships owner has been having issues lately, there are a number of crew positions available. He willing to pay for the work provided, in addition to any additional assistance. Currently, the captain and his "crew" comprise of the following:

Tobias Trell - Human Male, Captain of the Fool's Errand, is also the pilot and chief Engineer.

C7-TK9 "Prefect" - Former CIS Tactical droid, is used as the ship's loadmaster and accounting droid

Kayne - Trandoshan Male, servers as a gunner and bodyguard for Trell.

R4-B7 - Former Republic military, serves as a navigator and mechanic for the ship

"Broadside" - Droideka battle droid, used to serve as a trophy until Trell upgrade it's core to be independent. Capable of making it's own decisions, Broadside has stayed with Captain Trell. He takes the role of anti-ship boarding unit and bodyguard.

Available Crew Spots

  • Co-pilot - 200 Credits (max 1)
  • Engineer - 150 Credits (max 2)
  • Comms/Sensors operator - 100 Credits (max 1)
  • Loadmaster- 100 Credits (max 1)
  • Gunner/Menial - 50 Credits (max 2)

Let me know if any of the positions seem interesting to you.

Well my first walking money roll was 37 and this one is 7. So I'm keeping my previous one.

Pocket coin Take 2: 1d100 7

Walking around money: 1d100 37

Tion will apply for the comms/sensor ops position.

And for the destiny point pool, we're off to a bad start.

Here's my roll, which I think I'll keep. Is there an official name for the campaign, so all the rolls can go together?

I'll apply for the Co-pilot roll, and re-write the backstory. Anyone want a link?

If you can suss out a way that Lynna and Tion could be connected you're welcome to. Possibly Bargos had them work together to run a con on some rival?

Daal will apply for Engineering, Slot 1.

Can you post the link, please.

So...fantastic on the pocket change, moderately lousy on the overall destiny...story of my life.
Position-wise, while Sheed will be happy to help out as she can, she doesn't feel especially qualified for any of the open positions. Aboard a ship, her most valuable role is as a mouthpiece over the comms, using her charm and wit. For shipboard functions, she's mostly limited to a "hold this, hand me that" role, and with her lack of brawn, she's even limited there.

Here was the first roll for pocket change:

Pocket change: 1d100 63

And here is the second:

1d00 for starting cash, roll 2: 1d100 67

So I'm up 4 credits! Life is sweet :D

As for positions, while Massan would prefer a position as a comms/sensors operator he will instead push for one of the Mechanics spots. For two reasons. Firstly, it allows him a bit more independence, not being on the bridge being bossed around and all that. And secondly, it pays more. Massan is always interested in a better paying job. There is a neat little gadget that he needs to start saving for. I don't know which one, but there is always a new gadget to buy...

And here is my destiny roll:

Destiny roll: 1eF 1 Light Side

Since we won't all be part of the same crew I'd prefer if Massan started out solo, although he could be known to one or two of the characters. Perhaps he was once a part of the same crew with Sheed, back when he used to be the property of Teemo the Hutt? On one of the jobs where Sheed had to work with a group of specialists, Massan would have been the slicer. Any thoughts on that hydrospanner? Meeting up again on this ship would be one of those interesting coincidences the galaxy tends to throw at us!

I have no problem with that. While Sheed hasn't spent much time in Hutt Space to date, it's not inconceivable that the Hutts might send a crew elsewhere to pull a job.

That wouldn't be too bad.

Sure. I'm going for Hutt Space Chronicles. If there is another version out there, the just put my name in front of it.

Also, don't forget the Destiny roll.

Up to you. There's enough variance to be helpful with people.

Way I see it, Massan was on Port Tooga after the failed mssion, hence why he is so willing to head back to Hutt Space.

I will wait a couple of hours before tabulating up the Destiny pool.

Sounds perfect. This would have been about 2 years ago, if that fits your story. Teemo the Hutt sent his favorite bounty hunter with a small crew of specialists to do a little bit of industrial espionage. After seeing what they were up against the group hired Sheed for her burglary talents.

She needed to get in to the heavily guarded area, and get Massan in as well to allow him to slice the computer and get the data. The rest of the team had done most of the groundwork and stood by with a getaway vehicle to get them out.

After the heist Sheed got paid what she was owed and parted ways with the group. Only then did she realize that the Klatooinian would not be getting paid for risking his life on the mission, since he was a slave of Teemo the Hutt. The only thing he got was a rough "not bad kiddo" from the Nikto bounty hunter and then orders to go see why the engine of the starship they were about to escape on sounded slightly off.

Sheed hadn't heard from Massan since, and didn't expect to see him ever again, only to run into him on the transport headed to Hutt space.

Massan took a job as a mechanic on the ship to pay for his way to Hutt space, and get some pocket change to help him start fresh once he got there.

Possibly Tion's job was to act as Lynna's manservant during their last job, in which she was meant to be robbing a wealthy Toydarian and instead ended up married to him for rather a long time. Tion was the one meant to do the siphoning of credits from his account, but the Toydarian's clingy manner made finishing the job or escaping impossible. Just one option.

That could actually make for some fun interplay between them.

"You left me there!"

"He didn't want a manservant around his wife. I tried to get you out of there!"

"Oh really? How many times?"

"Uh, once."

"Once?!? Once?!?"

"He had tight security. But look, everything turned out fine."

It was on my concept sheet, but I forgot to put it on SWSheets, anyway Daal is usally very polite, but he likes to shoot people.

As far as a job goes, Sensors/comms is the only one Edad is remotely qualified to pull off. Maybe loadmaster. I'll apply for either of those.

"Yeah, the profit," Tion's voice trails off a bit at the end, trying not to betray his surprise Bargos didn't tell Lynna Tion had been able to get away with some of the credits they were hired to snag. The human assumed Bargos gave Lynna her cut after she returned from her time with the Toydarian.

"Anyway, I've got to go check my gear. Good talk."

sonovabith, is there an alternate crew slot you would like to go for?

He'll give loadmaster a whirl.

He'll give loadmaster a whirl.

In that case you will be paired up with Prefect, the ship's other Loadmaster and accountant. Prefect used to be a CIS Tactical Droid and was salvaged and repaired once the wars were over.

I'm also going to start up the main campaign soon. Though quick poll time:

  1. Long start to the campaign?
  2. Short start to the campaign?

what do you mean by "Long Start" and "Short Start"?

I'll echo JalekZem's question, not sure what you mean by long or short start.

Personally I'm fine with what ever start suits the game. In PbP games, more than face-to-face games, starting with some sort of action or "event" (not necessarily combat) tends to get the game rolling and everybody involved fast.
