Sarone's Star Wars: Hutts Space Chronicles (Season 1) OOC

By Sarone, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

The Hutt Space Chronicles

Welcoming Party

DISASTER! The DS-1 Battle Station, known more widely as the Death Star, has been destroyed by Rebel Forces in the Yavin system. The defeat of the Empire's so called "super weapon" has revealed weaknesses it previously tried to hide. With these weaknesses revealed, galactic powers take heed, examining their own plans.

From the planet Nal Hutta, Bargos the Hutt, having recuperated from an assassination attempt from decades ago, has entered into an alliance with Shoola the Hutt and Reom. For his role, Bargos is to ensure that operations in Nal Hutta go according to plan.

Greetings everyone.

This the Hutt Space Chronicles, a series of missions, encounters and Adventures set in Hutt Space.

With that being said, I will want each player, both Primary and Alternate, to post on the first page. Not only does this allow everyone to hear and see your post, but it also allows record management. While it is not required, it is encouraged for each player to maintain their own set of notes for the campaign. I will do my best to have an episode, character/NPC, location, and possibly a loot post.

In addition, while I would like to keep the main IC to players and GM, I also encourage readers to post once the players have posted and the campaign starts.

Let the games begin!

I'll be playing Massan , your local Klatooinian slicer, infiltrator and part-time mechanic and medic. It's a dirty job, but don't worry, Massan usually remembers to wash the engine grease off his hands before tending to blaster burns and lacerations. Usually.

Perhaps we should discuss if some, or all, of our characters know each other, know of each other or similar? And if so, what we know about each other?

Edited by Kymrel

Daal has been hired by Bargos to guard the party, but he could know a few others from his work for his old master.

edit: So I guess he would know a small capsule of information on the other characters, at the least.

Good afternoon,

Sting Wango is a Rodian Enforcer. He was hired on by Bargos to be a loan shark and collector for the organization. He is looking to redeem his reputation that was soiled in a turf war a few years ago. He is looking out primarily to make sure that people that owe Bargos pay up, he is not too concerned about the morality of the situation.

I'm playing Tion Nova , a human male making a living as a gambler and low end con man, while trying to fly a bit below the radar thanks to a bounty taken out by his former employer. He can and will lie his way out of most situations.

I could see Sting and Tion knowing each other through the underworld. Possibly someone Tion was gambling with also owed money to Bargos and Sting came to collect just as Tion was about to win a massive pile of credits from the person. Sting taking what was owed pissed off Tion since he was about to win that money and Tion insisted on making his case to Sting's boss, not knowing for whom the Rodian worked. Luckily for Tion he caught Bargos in a rare mood and instead of ordering Tion's execution for his actions, Bargos decided he admired Tion's fortitude and hired him to do grift and con work to bring in more money to the syndicate. Discovering the bounty on Tion's head solidified Bargos's grip on Tion, and he offered to make the bounty go away if he did good work for the Hutt. All of that is just on the fly stuff and can be ironed out.

I'll be playing Edad Sul , a male Duros archaeologist. Since he seems to be the oldest member of the group (by about 10 years or so), I could see him feeling a bit as odd running around with "these kids." Any of the smugglers could have been the one he started running around with, but Lynna seems most likely since she has a ship. He could have very easily ran across any of the others in his travels.

He always has his small trinket that is the object of his obsession with him, but most people will rarely ever see it. I will leave what it actually is up to Sarone, but the more I think about it, the more I kinda hope it really is nothing and Edad is just a loon ball.

Asheeda'naj, casually known as Sheed, is a ghost burglar, typically used to working alone.

Most of the group will see her as a "spook", a sneaky spy-like individual while those with the ear to the ground may connect her name to several high profile heists across the rim. Those who are more intimately familiar may have even heard rumors of a recent botched job at a CSA data-center on Orron III in the Corporate Sector...botched in the sense that the getaway could have been cleaner, but the thief or thieves were still at large.

This is part of what brings Sheed into Hutt Space...looking for a place where her criminal skills will be valued, that she can lie low for an extended time, and that the local powers can keep the CSA and Imperials at arms length...on that short list, Hutt Space is head and shoulders above the rest.

Mostly, when she tells people about the job on Orron III, she's met with a "That was you? " reaction.

She's a fairly quiet, no-nonsense type that usually prefers to keep to herself. That being said, she has no issues working with others when it suits her goals...and now that her goals are Bargos's goals, that means working with this group.

Sarone & all: Is there anything in the books to determine cost of buying a weapon with attachments already integrated into the thing? I see weapons...and I see attachments...and I see rules about adding those attachments *to* the weapons...but in that market, Sheed's a retail consumer, not a wholesaler.

Of course, that being asked, I suppose it's also worth asking if any in our gang (Massan?) have the know-how to perform the procedure?

I don't necessarily have my heart set on anything, but it's something I'd consider. (Of course, with the first bit of XP influx we get, I think I need to add some combat skills to my career skillset...)

It is pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

Step 1: Buy a weapon. Note the number of hard points.

Step 2: Buy an attachment. Note how many hard points it uses up. Anyone can attach an attachment to a weapon, getting the basic benefits, and you can buy those before play and start with them attached.

Step 3: Mod the attachment, if desired. This is done with an increasingly difficult mechanics check, making more than one or two mods rather unlikely. It is generally not permitted to begin play with any mods (Sarone might have a different view), especially since modding requires a Mechanics check. The first mod is hard and it gets tougher after that. If you fail to use a particular mod you can't attempt to install it again. Also, the material cost for attempting to install a mod is 100 credits.

Massan is very capable of modding stuff, and decently good at it. Fiddling with things to make them better than the original designers could make them is his second most favorite thing in the whole universe.

Also keep in mind that the rarity of some mods will be higher then that of the weapon, and most manufacturers need to build to accommodate the laws.

The best example of this is street racers in our time. You do not and cannot go into your local dealership and buy a vehicle that is ready for street racing for a couple of reasons:

1) The end activity is not legal in most places

2) The demand for such machines are not high enough to justify stocking them in any non-zero quantity even if the above is not the case.

So prospective street racer needs to acquire the chassis of the vehicle, usually buying the lowest cost frame that will suit their purpose. They then find a bigger engine, suitable transmission, upgrade the suspension, better tires and flashier rims, paint it in non-standard colors, and possibly put other mods on like NO2 injectors, real time computer monitoring of the fuel injection and so on.

Thanks guys.

I wasn't looking at extensive modding (or any modding, really), just basically approaching it from Sheed's standpoint of, "I'm a thief, not a gunbunny. While it's nice to have a blaster, I use it mostly to get my point across...so if it can be more like a swiss army knife (err...Hapan Army Multitool?) and less like a Ka-Bar, it'll help me do more of what I do."

Ok, so we have one person left to get on here (ColonelCommissar) and then we can start some character debate.

I doubt we will start tomorrow, so I am aiming for this Saturday to be the day we start.

That being said, allow me to leave some background information for the campaign for you guys to chew.

Please note, I would like everyone to hold posts until CC has a chance to post.

Background

With the destruction of the Empire DS-1 Battle stations, various powers that be are taking it as a sign. For three individuals, the time for an alliance was never better.

Seeking access to technologies, resources, and market, the Twi'lek CEO of Isotech, Reom, proposed a deal with Shoola the Hutt of Port Tooga. In exchange for her resources and personnel, Reom will provide medical help and cybernetic augmentation, as well as greater "socially acceptable" assistance. Pleased with the offer and realizing the potential, Shoola contacts her cousin, a Hutt name Bargos.

A hutt of limited resources, Bargos has connections to several other crime families, for both good and ill. Having fallen on hard times after the Clone Wars, Bargos sees this alliance as a means to an end. In return for his assistance in managing the operations on Nal Hutta/Nar Shaddaa, Bargos seeks to reap the financial and personal rewards of the Alliance.

Your Campaign:

You and your fellow players have been recruited by the alliance to serve as a team. Your team is to serve as assistance to a primary team that was already sent ahead and is operating on Nar Shaddaa. It is expected that you will handle some light and additional duties the primary team has in store.

What do you all think? (Please post after CC posts.)

Hi all. Sorry to not respond sooner, I've been completely frazzled by exams and didn't see the thread go up (blame me and my ridiculous devotion to actual revision; I need to sort my priorities).

I shall be playing as Lynna Sellua , a Twi'lek Gunslinger and pilot. Prior to meeting the group, she's been travelling the galaxy seeking adventure, excitement, and pretty much anything that will get her out of an arranged marriage to a slimo back on Ryloth. In her time away she has performed pretty much every job in the galaxy - as a courtesan aboard a Hapan pleasure liner, as a bilge-scourer on a Raxus Priman junker, and a dozen other jobs across the length and breadth of the galaxy. Her last job prior to entering Bargos' service went wrong however, and left her spending six months longer than intended married to a lovesick Toydarian, while her counterpart Tion Nova was hardly able to help her much given her 'beloved's' 'extreme loyalty'. Fleeing at last, she made her way to Hutt Space, as a convenient place to disappear from any of the various forces looking to track her down - ranging from suspicious customs officers and ISB agents, through to the aforementioned heartbroken Toydarian banker. She assumes she can find safety at the far end, but that may prove elusive. Not that she minds of course: she appreciates the challenge.

Awesome, Col., thanks for joining us!

As an FYI to Sarone, et al.: I will be traveling out of state for a friend's wedding from Sat-to-Sun, and given the holiday weekend, I may (weather permitting) spend Sunday night camping before returning home.

All told, I will be back in the office Tuesday morning, but all points from Friday evening to Tuesday morning I may be anywhere from a friend's guest room, to the hotel, to the middle of 800+ square miles of forest.

I should at this point emphasise the awkwardness of my own weekend as on Friday night I have my school leavers' ball (or prom, to those of you across the pond) and then from Saturday through to Monday I shall be in the woods reenacting a part of the Battle of the Wilderness (1864). Thus if we start on Saturday then until Monday evening you'll have a very quiet pilot, though that may not be a problem.

Which side of the pond are you from?

I call it prom...but I find it odd that a non-American would be reenacting a battle from the American Civil War.

Looks good Sarone!

I am British, but I reenact the American Civil War (and some British stuff, but that's much less fun). It confuses lots of people, though mostly along the lines of why I reenact, not why I reenact the ACW.

So is it looked at like "Look, they couldn't even make it 100 years without us?" over there then? haha.

No, more "Hey, that looks like a way more interesting war than anything we were doing in the mid-19th Century. Let's have at it."
