R Agromech and Weapons Engineer

By Archangelspiv, in X-Wing

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if Weapons Engineer works with R4 Agromech? R4 says spend a focus, acquire target lock on defender. Weapon engineer says when you acquire a target lock you may do so on 2 separate targets. Probably a silly question, but does R4's wording override WE ability?

Cheers all

For some reason my 4 key has decided to work intermittently... awesome...

As long as that focus is spent during the attack, I believe both are in effect.

1. Spend focus on attack

2. Acquire Target Lock on defender via R4

3. Acquire Target Lock on second legal target via Weapons Engineer

That's all there is to it.

Cheers, I thought I would ask here in case I came across rules lawyers at a later date.

There is nothing to override. It's like with K4 Security droid. On a green move you ca aquire 2 target locks at once (on different ships)

The best analogy is Fire Control System, actually, which has identical wording in terms of acquiring a TL "on the target" of an attack, and is well FAQed as to how this interacts with both Kagi's TL-sucking ability, and with Weapons Engineer.

The rules subforum is probably a better place to ask these sorts of questions.

I hate this reply.

More eyes = more answers.

I will never fault someone for not using a hyper specific sub forum when the general will, as it has done, work well enough.

What does it even matter to you?

Well it does make rules questions easier to search for, but I really don't have an issue with not putting rules questions in the subforum

Likewise, why does it matter so much to you? One benefit of using the subforum is that it's easier to find. Stuff falls off the front page of the general forum within hours sometimes. And if someone else has the same question later, they'll have an easier time looking up the existing thread, preventing duplicates (not that we mind answering the same question multiple times, mind you).

Did I attack the guy for posting here? It's obvious he got the answer he needed so it's not like I was telling him to post in the rules forum instead of giving him the information he was looking for. I was pointing out that there is a place on this forum specifically for this sort of post in case he has additional questions. "Rules Questions" isn't exactly what I'd call a "hyper specific sub forum" either.

Having rules questions posted in a rules forum makes it easy for people to see if someone has recently asked a similar question to what they are about to post. It also makes it more likely that you will get a timely response if your question happens to get posted at around the same time as an FFG announcement.

There are a decent number of people that only check the general forum if there's nothing going on over in the rules forum.
