Catch Me If You Can - Rebel Maneuvering

By Skeether, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So this is a fun list idea I've thrown together by taking some older pilots (except for Ello) and adding newer cards to spice things up. Not sure if I should keep the three of them together or if each of their builds could work better with other wingmen, but it was fun to play the other night.

B-Wing: · Ibtisam (28)

Stay on Target (2)

Fire Control System (2)

B-Wing/E2 (1)

· Hera Syndulla (1)

A-Wing: · Tycho Celchu (26)

Rage (1)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Autothrusters (2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Push The Limit (3)

T-70 X-Wing: · Ello Asty (30)

Predator (3)

· R5-X3 (1)

Autothrusters (2)

-- TOTAL ------- 100/100p. --

Ibtisam can always do red maneuvers with Hera, so he can k-turn whenever, or 1 hard turn. He can also chase lower PS pilots around by changing his maneuver with Stay on Target. His ability on defense saved him at least 2 damage also.

Angry Tycho can boost and then Rage or if I don't need the repositioning, he can Rage and evade. I was able to keep him in range one many times with basically the TL and focus that Rage provides for some brutal shots.

Ello can T-roll and boost after which gives him a world of places to go, and will still get rerolls from Predator. This droid is amazing on him as well. He can do risky maneuvers and just pop the droid to land on asteroids and still shoot, etc.

Any ideas for tweaks or other wingmen these guys could fly with? In a way, I like them all together because of the so many options that are allowed to me for choosing maneuvers, but I'm wondering if I'm leaving out other obvious synergies.

First, Ibtisam is a 'she'. Second, FCS is a little redundant since she'll re-roll a die while stressed anyway. Stay on Target isn't bad against low PS enemies, but it's all but useless against higher PS. Against lower PS, though, you have your entire dial available and they don't, so you should already have an advantage without SoT. Wired might be an option, giving you up to 2 re-rolls on offense and defense (at Range 3 or behind an obstacle). That frees up her Systems slot. If you can squeeze another point out of Tycho you'd have enough for Sensor Jammer, further increasing her durability.

You can't just leave it at that. She also happens to be a Mon Calamari pilot, and fair good one.

I Shouldn't have been so quick to reply. You know what's really fun on Ibtisam? Push the Limit, Engine Upgrade. She can Boost or barrel roll with the best of them, but the stress doesn't matter so much because of her ability. Still not as good as an interceptor because she has no green turns, but surprisingly agile for a B-wing.

Other favorite loadout: Elusiveness and Sensor Jammer. Makes her 3 hull and 5 shields go even further when she reduces the amount of damage she takes. Against high-PS pilots, she gets attacked, uses Elusiveness to cause them to reroll an attack die, thus granting her a stress token. She also turns one [hit] into a [focus] with Sensor Jammer. Then they modify the attack dice, and then Ibtisam, who is now stressed, can reroll a defense die if she din't get an evade result the first time. That's a lot of potential damage mitigation. And if they spent their focus on the attack, no problem -- it makes it easier for Ibtisam to hit them with the reroll on her own attack. It's not nearly as helpful against low-skilled pilots because Elusiveness doesn't trigger until after she has already attacked.

A wing test pilot lets Tycho be ps 9 for 0 with adaptability

FCS is a little redundant but goes a long way past the one reroll for attack. Wired would be cheaper though and sensor jammer would certainly help keep her on the board. I have to say though, SOT works really **** well for chasing lower ps ships that can go either way on ya. And being able to have the option of k-turn or any other 2 speed move is sweet.

Not so sure of the effectiveness of elusiveness though. Gets you the stress, but I think there are more decent options like wired that can allow me to just continue being stressed where as elusiveness cannot be used if you are already stressed.

Thanks for the responses though guys. I didn't really think about stacking wired on for the rerolls and using sensor jammer defensively. I think that is a better build once I make the points for it.

The only thing to be careful about Angry Tyco is that once you start racking up the stress, your opponent knows he can never K-turn. So if a ship with similar maneuverability gets in behind him, it can be hard for Tyco to shake them. PTL does significantly help with this, but it's still a concern. Stay on Target is Angry Tyco's worst enemy.
