Are the gun holsters that reduce Encumbrances or can I just use the Utility belt as one?
You mean you aren't going to just walk around with your blasters drawn at all times?

Edited by Comrade CosmonautWhat is your guys thoughts on Protect/Unleash? As a "tank" force user Protect seems a natural fit. With my reluctance to use any weapon that isn't the force, Unleash would have its uses too. Does unleash go thru soak?
I'm also looking at Bind. Cheaper and can still damage. Is it work trading away the protect ability?

Bind can be useful if you don't want to get a ton of conflict.
But, conflict is the most interesting part.

Rereading thru protect you have to upgrade it to last a whole round. Otherwise it's just 1 attack after protect is successfully rolled. That's 65 xp and a great roll for it to last the whole round.
Bind looks like I would only need 20 xp to get power, a strength, and the strain for action control.
Unless there's something I'm missing protect/unleash seems like a xp sink that doesn't really pay off. Unless that protect saves someone's life.
But, conflict is the most interesting part.
Very true. As a "pacifist" force user the times I'll need to use the dark side of the force will come at a great cost to my morals. It'll be a constant internal conflict to stay true to the light side.
Maybe it would help if we all went over the role we picture our character playing in the party? Myself I kinda picture Kolah being the ranged fighter and tracker. Able to help the party survive off the land.I haven't gone over my equipment yet (that's a lot of credits to spend!!!) but I was thinking in the very least a sniper rifle, a good side arm, maybe a scattergun since it's a western (
) and then survival and possibly scouting based equipment (recon droids could be useful me thinks).
So I just reworked Paya (which can still be found here, for convenience). It really meant I could make strides in Warden.
As much as I love, and I mean desperately love, a western setting and feel, I'm going to aim more for the serious, mystical monk as a stranger in a strange land. I'm going to work toward battlefield control, which means I'll be looking to get a couple of ranks in Fearsome, as well as scooping up Bind and a another rank or two in Force Rating.
This puts Mechanics and Intellect on the back burner, but I'll make movements toward it all the same. Besides, a mechanic with three greens? Easy peasy. Right? Right?
Edited by Comrade CosmonautSo by my rough estimates, here are the ages of the PCs:
Methrom: ~40
Tellek: ~100(Still young for a Feroorian)
Kolah: ~30
Jost: ~30
Jost is still fairly young. 19 is what I imagine. Left tribe at about 17, just before he would have be considered a man. He has only been out in the galaxy for about 2 years. Wasn't my intention, but Jost has ended up very much a "Luke" character. Still young and learning the ways of the galaxy for the first time.

I see Jost as the party's damage tank. Able to draw a lot of attention to himself in combat and survive the hits. Using force powers he should be able to "debuff" enemies, maybe not at first but with time shouldn't be a problem.
Quick to threaten but rarely will throw the first punch.

To my recollection, there aren't really any holsters that reduce encumbrance. The concealment holster (Dangerous Covenants) makes it harder to find, but doesn't affect encumbrance. If you're talking for rifles, I think the strap attachment might work, but I can't recall specifics.
Yeah I saw that. I forget (since I've never had this many credits to tool with when designing a character) when buying a weapon can you buy the attachments and assume they're attached or would I need to make the mechanics check?

I've considered it!!!

Wandering Monk can fit the Western theme and feel
. Though someone wadding into combat all monk like does sound cool. Warden is one of the specializations I want to play at some point. Bind also works as a good power in my opinion.
In regards to the discussion on Protect/Unleash vs Bind .... doesn't Protect/Unleash require a Force Rating of 3? So for even a Knight level character isn't that a bit out of reach right now? Though I do think working towards Protect/Unleash is a good goal for a character looking to use the Force as his basis for handling problems. Bind seems more plausible (though I haven't done the math to see if you can reach FR 2 with only 150xp). Still both are good ideas for the concept.

You do not have to make a mechanics check to add attachments, ever. You must make a mechanics check to mod attachments.
Speaking of modifications; so, say the repulsion fist, since it is a weapon of a sort, can it benefit from any mod? Never really thought to consider it before.

You can reach FR 3 for 135exp in sage or 140 exp with seer, if your willing to spend starting exp on talents you can build some very powerful, one trick ponies.
Also is this game still recuiting?
And are we restricted to Force and Destiny careers and specs?

Yes, No,(screw it I'll roll morality dark side you're in light side you're not.)
1eF: 1 Dark Side [1eF=DS]
Okay, so apparently you're in Plan B.
And are we restricted to Force and Destiny careers and specs?
No, and you don't have to be force-sensitive. You start at 5 obligation if you aren't, and can take up to 15 more.

It doesn't have any hard points(I think) but if you used Tinkerer on it then it would have one.
Can I spend starting credits on Mods for my lightsaber crystal and attempt to install them?
So, are we know The Magnificent 7 or still the Magnificent 6 but often get the question "But there are seven of you?" and we have to respond "It's a long story kid..." =)

ill have a few tricks. ive gone back to basics of who my character really is, a precog. starting to think less of a Luke and more like River. I really like what you can pull off with foresee and initiative checks. im just not going to be the tank i thought until im deep in Armorer. for now im party support. defense for everyone!

This party is going to be hard to kill...
Kael try resending your application.
