I'm calling it - AT-AT to be announced at GenCon

By VaultDweller, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Survival of the Fittest starts with rebels split into 2 groups and only 6 tiles placed. When they get adjacent to tiles that are missing, that tile is added to the map.

There is also another mission which reveals an additional part of the map at one point.

Rebels don't have any big figures. They're due. They want to be able to block off hallways too without having to dirty their hands hiring Scum.

Hmmmmm....... So, everyone in the whole wide world of Star Wars wants to see AT-AT walkers. Really, we all do, it's just that there are problems that need to be solved for it to happen:

1) Scale.

Personally, I LOVE that everything is to scale and I would rather go WITHOUT an AT-AT than to not have it to scale. I think most people feel the same way. If the At-AT comes to IA, it must be three times bigger than the AT-ST.

2) Map Size.

Okay, so if the AT-AT is three times bigger than the AT-ST, then there must be maps that are three times bigger than the campaign maps that utilize the AT-ST. I think this is doable, or close to doable. Armada and X-Wing Epic is already played on a 3x6 play area, and I think a 3x6 play area is certainly big enough for an At-AT.

The AT-AT would certainly see very limited use, but we're fanatics and don't care about that. We just want to use it, some how, some way. It would need to come in a big box expansion with big tiles to save time on setup. The maps that utilize the AT-AT would need to have a lot of outdoor area with a lot of space to move.

Maybe it would be a massive token in the big box that you could buy as a villain pack?

I don't know, but where there's a will there's a way.

Scale:

Have you compared General Weiss to a any of the other figures? Dude's tiny.

He represents the Lollypop Guild...

I like the idea of a token and associated villain pack - then everyone gets to play with it but those of us with more money than sense can spend an extra ~$50 for a massive figure.

I think more likely* than a massive token though will be ~4 12x12 tiles with only two sides with the black border, and then a special AT-AT map tile.

*Most likely is no AT-AT. I'd buy one, but I'm not sure it brings anything to IA. What's next, IA scale X-Wings?**

**I'd buy that too. I have a problem.

oh man, this again.

Im a big fan of the AT-AT and love it to bits. but i understand it should not be a figure in Imperial assault. i don't think it would work as a figure.

- it would work as a gameplay mechanic that bombards the map at the end of the round. (i think there is a rebel mission in the core campaign that has Tie Bombers hitting the map.)

- or the interior of the AT-AT could be map tiles, that is attached to the main map. and it could be a sabotage mission to blow it up from the inside while it is docked.

those would be cool, a figure wouldn't work
