I'm calling it - AT-AT to be announced at GenCon

By VaultDweller, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Don't you think it's about time an AT-AT expansion was announced? What better time than GenCon to make a great announcement like that and have a sample in the case at the booth.

What would you like to see in an AT-AT expansion? Price? Would it include the Rebel ground weapons?

It would be cool but i think the atat is a bit on the big scale for ia :(

I'd rather have Jar-Jar Binks, at least I could actually use him. Realistically speaking, I'd rather have stormtroopers on dewbacks.

Not gonna happen anytime soon.

They had it in SWM so it is possible, it would be the equivalent of having an epic ship in a game of x-wing.

The problem is having maps to support it, before they release any at-at maps they need to increase the number of 4 player maps and add an epic mode to go above 40 points.

Maybe next year.

An AT-AT would be useless unless it was miles away.

The height of an AT-ST is 8 meters. The height of an AT-AT is 22 meters... its three times bigger in height, not even counting length. It's a troop carrier transporting multiple squads at a time. It would cover most of the current maps! If they want to preserve any scale, it won't happen. Only way an AT-AT will realistically make it into the game is as a map... like the bridge of the Star Destroyer in Twin Shadows.

What I do suspect is on the way is an early period 1 or 2 campaign to tie in with Rogue One, especially since they just announced three figure packs that should, if they want to preserve any continuity, be limited to periods 1 and 2...

I'd rather have Jar-Jar Binks, at least I could actually use him.

Here you go.

Not to mention the pricetag and packaging.

I wouldn't expect to see an AT-AT for anything less than $100--probably more, and I would anticipate the smallest possible box being the size of the core set (meaning lots of assembly).

AT-AT for IA? Please don't. Not when so many other things people want are still out there (Rancors, landspeeders, snow speeders, rebel commandos, Stormtroopers on dewbacks, rebels on tauntauns, TIE pilots, Rebel pilots, a hutt, jawas, random droids, etc.).

They carry 40 troopers in the EU (or fewer troops if they want to cram in a couple bikes or something) plus a crew of like 4 up front. Would be fun. I think it's doable, but they need to do quite a bit with it to launch an epic mode. They did that with the tantive though in x-wing. They didn't launch epic on it's own first. A pack that big can have what it needs for rules/maps etc. with the walker.

I REALLY want Executor in Armada though.....lol

Sand Troopers with Dewbacks would be awesome, loved mine on Star Wars Galaxies

I could imagine the AT-DP* which I wouldn't be against.

I'd rather see AT-PTs myself.

And a buff to AT-STs.

What would be a buff to AT-STs?

Possibly something that played up it's Blast/Missile launcher more? Blast would wreck against Troopers and that's it's honestly biggest threat ATM.

I'd just like to see it do more damage. Usually elite storm troopers do more damage than an AT-ST for less cost. The AT-ST is basically just a wall in regards to campaign play.

Maybe as a map rather than as a figure?

GenCon they will announce Q4s box set/release.

I'm so excited/curious to find out if the next box is going to be ROTJ time period or Rogue One/Rebels time period. :o :O :o

I doubt we'll see an AT-AT announced at Gen Con. I think what's more likely is an ROTJ Box with a RANCOR announced. Possibly a 1 vs Many skirmish mode to go along with the rancor as well.

A rancor still seems like a logical inclusion for this game, I'm just still slightly skeptical about it story wise.

Any Jabba's Palace setting the campaign would use, would have to be after his death, and therefore also after the rancor's death.

Any story with our heroes taking place before Jabba's death makes no sense to me.

A story after his death could involve the Alliance trying to take advantage of the power vacuum Jabba left behind and get valuable resources out of it.

A story before his death... is what. Them ignore the fact that Han Solo is in the guy's living room?

I find your lack of imagination disturbing. :D

You know that the game has varying time periods right? I mean, Obi Wan, Greedo, AND the Inquisitor are all dead before the core game's timeline. They can do the Jabba timeline prior to Empire Strikes Back if they want. They can do multiple scenarios involving Jabba and/or the Rancor. Maybe one mission pre-ROTJ and another mission dealing with the aftermath of Jabba's death. Maybe a huge fight for power, or villains shooting each other trying to make off with Jabba's wealth, all the while you have to rescue someone who was a prisoner in Jabba's Palace, while trying to avoid the crossfire.

An AT-AT would be bigger than some of the skirmish maps, so I highly doubt it will be included.

It's likely going to go the route of Rebels/Rogue One first, but I've never seen the show and don't know what that would entail.

Another Tatooine expansion had a lot of untapped torrential, though. My bet would be on a rancor, too. There's no law that Jabba's beastmaster couldn't have another rancor in his stables, and the time periods mechanic could mean the rancor figure can also portray the same one we all Luke crush with rocks or a different one. It would likely share the same base as the AT-ST, come in a blister pack, and be immediately purchased by me!

The corresponding box set could include the Stormtrooper on a dewback, jawas, gamorrean guards, etc, and a couple new heroes.

My hopes for any new expansion is that they implement a tile-uncovering mechanic that encourages exploration by rebels to uncover the whole map and find the objectives while running into Imperials along the way.

If you want Rancors... why not just go to Dathomir?

Different than in some Return to Hoth missions?
