Flying movement

By mixykym, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

hi folks

does a flying monster IN a location with NO investigator in or adjacent in street ,move to the sky?

according to the flying monster diagram page 11 i dont think so.

I just looked at the rules, and can see why the example does appear a bit confusing. We play that a flying monster in a location, moves to the street whether there is an investigator there or not. Only once the flying monster is in the street will it go to the sky if it can't get to an investigator when it moves.

Make sure to clarify that this is a house-rule. A (moving) flying monster in a location will move directly to the sky if there is not an investigator in its space or in an adjacent street

Was this clarified in the FAQs? The way the example in the rules reads, it only shows that a monster goes to the sky from a street, not a location. That's where I saw reason for confusion. My logic was that since a monster can't swoop from the sky to a location (other than Devils Reef) to attack an investigator, it shouldn't be able to move from the location directly to the sky.

"The Sky and Flying Monsters

Q: Please clarify how flying monsters move.

A: Flying monsters move according to the following rules:
1. Flying monsters only move when their symbol comes
up in the Mythos Phase, just like other monsters.

2. Flying monsters will not leave a space that already contains
an investigator.

3. When a flying monster in a street area or location
moves, it will either move to an adjacent street space that
has an investigator in it, or failing that, move to the Sky.

4. When a flying monster in the Sky moves, it will move
to any street space on the board with an investigator in it.
If there’s more than one investigator to choose from, the
monster moves into the space of the investigator with the
lowest Sneak value. If the investigators’ Sneak values are
the same, the first player chooses which investigator the
monster moves toward, as usual. If there are no investigators
in a street space, the monster remains in the Sky."

Thanks, Dam. I missed that one. I guess I've been playing wrong. I still like my logic, however. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Been lurking for a while. Switched to a hard wargame for solo play. I'm going to be visiting my sons this weekend, though, so we'll probably get a game of AH in Saturday night.gran_risa.gif

Fuzzy logic FTW gran_risa.gif .

Been on an AH-hiatus myself, waiting for when I can get around to buying sleeves and sleeving the cards before tackling more plays. LCG/CCGs have been filling the void as well as Talisman.
