Rebel ISD 1

By MandalorianMoose, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Rebel mad scientists have discovered a way to strap the front hull zone of an ISD 1 to the side of their shrimps. Let me know what you guys think.

I've often wondered about this setup. The firepower is very attractive, but it comes with a significant cost, and ultimately is the world's biggest glass cannon. That many points tied up in the shrimp reduces your bid, reduces your activations, and reduces your deployments. All of which are needed to really take advantage of all that firepower.

But by all means please try it out and let us know how it does! I would consider changing up the missions though. MC30 rear arcs are awfully vulnerable to enemy shots from...everywhere...so I really tend to shy away from Superior Positions. Most wanted is ok (though you don't really have a cheap ship to throw away), but why wouldn't you take Advanced Gunney, and let loose with those fantastic mega-broadsides that you paid so much for? ;)

Ya I thought about that before the post and was too lazy to change the fleet in the generator. Would probably take advanced gunnery and Intel sweep. I have so many lists that j want to try and only so many games of armada that I can fit into a week!

The thing with Ackbar on the MC30T is, you usually only get one of those side arcs at a time, and a front/side double arc actually averages more damage output than one of these broadsides, and is harder to defend against. This is why I don't really do this anymore, and just go for a little less unconventional MC30 build with Dodonna or Rieekan.

The really nice thing about Ackbar MC30T's, though, is the double side arc. The only really practicable way to get this is to cheat, because it's extraordinarily difficult to set up organically. Even if your opponent presents you the opportunity to set it up, it depends on you having been deployed exactly the right distance away, because the distance you have to be even from a large ship is about half the length of the maneuver tool. And if you miss it, you end up with just one side arc or, worse, just a front arc.

Fortunately, there are two ways to cheat: Advanced Gunnery and Hyperspace Assault. And if you can sucker somebody into picking either of those, well...

Why Admonition over Foresight? The latter always struck me as the better bet (extra dice on evade, extra redirect zone) rather than burning defence tokens?

This was the inspiration for my list. I have never denied that.

However, very little about this list did I keep in making a fleet that went on to win Vassal. So yes they are MY Ackbar Star Destroyers, these are YOURS. And I would take MINE over YOURS every single day of the week.

No need to be quite so bitter.

I was bitter but now I'm better. I'm glad yours worked out so well, your a braver man than I putting sensor teams on them.
