The Maxima-A showed up in the Poe dameron comics recently, so there's another possible First Order ship. Resurgence and Maxima would actually be really nice for a ship wave.

Ah, I dunno though. Originally I think about what new ships would be good to round out the factions and I was hoping the Empire could get something impressive to shore up the VSD-ISD hi-hull gun lists that I really want to fly. Instead we get something that immobilizes Demolisher targets and does little to nothing for the big ship lists. So while I could wish for the Nebulon-B2, Resurgence, or even the Venator... we'll probably end up with something like the Rendeli Light Corvette as a flotilla that throws two blues out of every arc with shield 2 and hull 3 to make it a better fighting blue/black platform.

If we think about canon the Arquitens and the Quasar-Fire are there from Rebels. If we end up with the QF, expect Rhymerballs to get even better and/or more commands out of cheaper ships, making the VSD even more redundant and ISDs seem expensive for the same amount of damage possible in a list.

Just like the Nebulon-B of old, the perception of people coming to the Star Wars Lore through Rebels, will only associate it with the Rebellion - since you see it a lot more often with its new Firebird paintjob...

Additionally, even in Rebellion, it was considered a Rebel carrier, not an Imperial Carrier...

But it'll be shown off as a rebel one, when and if it ever makes it to the game.

The Quasar-Fire begins under control of the Empire and is stolen on-screen by the Rebellion, even if the Rebels will feature that ship more often than the Empire. FFG will probably use the same mentality they used for the Lambda shuttle: Even though Tydirium is more visible than ST-321, It's an Imperial craft.

Of course a more practical answer is which faction needs it more? Rebels don't have a lot of small carriers so that could be a reason to bring it in on the Rebels' side. But the aesthetic is going to stick out pretty badly.

As for the Nebulon... per new canon, we know that the Alliance operated the Nebulons but not necessarily stole them from the Empire. Kuat could have been selling them to the Rebels on the sly to profit from both the Empire and the Rebellion in the GCW. You could say this doesn't make any sense, but no canon source claims that Nebulons were stolen.

We never see them being stolen either, so for all we know they were clone wars surplus.

The rebels are large-ship heavy over the empire.

To everyone who keeps things that the Resurgent class from TFA will come, you must remember that according to the canon, it is TWICE the size of the ISD. It is impractical for armada without severe scaling, even worse then the CR90 (which I can understand as completely necessary). Scaling up the CR90 to it's current size and scaling down a RSD to usable size are two different things IMO.

I mean, to be completely honest, I'm not a fan of "bigger is better" and don't care for either of them.

So then what, is the Resurgent too big to put on a large base? If it's going to happen, it's going to be on a large base. In spite of being twice the size the Resurgent is, at best, slightly more impressive than the older Imperial. If we're jumping up a size class for special rules it's going to be the Executor, because no other ship in canon can justify itself with special rules to that degree.

Um, not any sillier than Epic ships are for X-Wing. But we've had this discussion over and over already in the SSD thread. Frankly I'd like to see it because Empire's supposed to have the huge intimidating ships... and the Rebels just got their second large ship.

Executor, Resurence, whatever... something to help Imperial med-large ships be more viable of a list building choice than Demolisher or Rhymer. Ughf.

Thematically, having only one Large Ship makes sense for the Empire...

Need to Blockade? Star Destroyer.

Chase down a Blockade Runner? Star Destroyer.

Orbital Bombardment? Star Destroyer.

Troop Transport for Planetary Assault? Star Destroyer...

A Big theme of the Empire is Nameless, and Faceless... Stormtroopers personify that in one way. Having nothing but Star Destroyers does that too... There are so few individuals, everyone is Uniform. Everyone is a specific combination of White, Black and Grey.

There are no Heroes. Only the Empire.

The thing is there are multiple classes of large base sized Star Destroyers in both canon and Legends. The Tectors appear in Return of the Jedi briefly and are identified by name as being at Endor in one of the canon short stories, the Secutors appear in Tarkin and the Venators would be large base ships as well since they are basically the same size as the MC80s

Imperials may only have one Large ship, but it is the Imperial which is pretty **** good. There are reasons you see triple ISD lists more often than triple MC80 lists. And the imperials get a second medium base ship. Plus the Interdictor has some pretty nice stats from what we have seen. Probably in the 90-100 range for the combat refit variant.

Believe me I'm glad that the ISD-II is as flexible as it is and has the stat-line that it does. But I'm not happy about the cost you pay to get a ship that flexible into your list. If VSDs had been improved in at least one aspect or another to have that same flexibility at cheaper cost, it would go a long way to diversifying Imperial lists. Players would go to ISDs for crushing firepower with specific titles, and VSDs for discount firepower and more activations.

The Interdictor does not improve this situation, except perhaps to slow targets down enough for VSD-Is to catch them. The Interdictor won't replace VSDs in a combat capacity (probably by intention), but they probably will replace VSDs in some lists, since their support abilities are better to have in a list than the firepower out of a slow VSD that might not ever get to engage. Even if you miss commanding squadrons out of your VSDs, your cheaper Gozantis can pick up the slack and probably do Rhymerballs better anyway (as nobody builds dedicated anti-fighter Imperial builds via Flight Controller interceptors).

What I want is something like a cheap gun Nebulon-B2 with a juicy new turbolaser (spend redirect for x effect?), or a Dreadnought as perhaps some kind of broadsider to flank out and herd enemy ships into VSD-I jaws with beefy firepower. In fact I'd love some kind of generic defensive upgrade for Imperial med-large ships. That way VSDs get a little more insurance and the ISD-I becomes viable beyond using it for cheap hull 14.

Isd front arcs control my movement throughout. Demolisher just affects my deployment.

I agree. The Imps will likely have the Quasar. It'll balance the numbers. Rebels would other wise have the Quasar, the Hammerheads, AND the Pelta, while the Imps only have the Arquittens left. Moving the Quasar to the Imperial side balances this, and the Rebels can have the Pelta perform a similar function, in terms of squadron support.... after all they do similar things.

I think you are missing more than the Lamda Shuttle, what about Kylo Ren's Shuttle, the First Order Landing Craft and the Resistance Landing Craft (Leia lands in it)? Just thinking about them raises a new mission type in my mind: "Escort" where the idea would be for require a shuttle and it forms part of the mission some how.

I would also like to see some extra variety in the X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber options.

Even if these were added now and again, rather than a specific wave number, it would be very nice to see. Nice Christmas present from FFG perhaps? One can hope.

Who cares the rebel transport is suppose to be half the length of a CR90 corvette and yet in armada it is fighter size
