Maybe repackaged imperial and rebel fighters with new veteran squadrons and elite aces.
Obligatory Wave 5 Speculation Thread
The Ghost in an Imperial/ Reb aces pack. The Ciena Ree pic released the other day offered maybe a hint that more fighters are on their way.
I'll be honest, if they never release another thing for Armada I'll be a happy man. With the wave 4 announcement, I've got everything I'll ever need.
First Order Star Destroyer, just because I want one
Resurgent Class Star Destroyer!
I'll take three please
Such a exciting time to start playing the game, I thought Wave 2 was enough and yet more ships are on the way.
When wave 3 and 4 arrives there would plenty capital ships around. I think before wave 5, they should really consider 600 point games. Especially for multiplayer games, current 150 point four player is cool however one multiplayer game i am looking for is either 300/400 point per player multiplayer games where there will be 2 player vs 2 player games rather than everyone for their own games. 1200 or 1600 point worth of ship and squadron on one table would be one epic battle.
Also the table size can increase too as there are more ships to put on the table but also it will allow bigger ships to join as well in the future ( especially for SSD and Finalizer which is twice the size of ISD)
The time for new trilogy games will be either Wave 6 or 7 as we did not see the New Republic ships or any other First Order ship apart from Finalizer.
Rogue One might bring new ships on the table, maybe transitionary ships between Old Republic and Imperial fleets.
So my wishes for Wave 5 ?
Escort Carrier - it will allow more squadron oriented scenarios, it would be interesting to see a heavy squadron presence against big capital ships
Dreadnaught- for some reason I want to see this ship, it is very old tech but it would be great to see scenarios where Empire only have VSD and Rebellion has Dreadnaughts and other small ships
Assault Frigate Mk1 - looks wise much better than Mk2, I dont feel Mk2's architecture fits Star Wars style
CC 7700 - I hope they dont bring this ship, one thing I like about Star Wars is that the fight is very asymmetrical, Rebellion and Empire are never on equal terms, Empire should definetely have the Interdictor but Rebellion should not have the same capability. Thats why I did not get Gladiator and Raider, Empire should have big and bulky ships and Rebellion have smaller and more agile ships. If they have same capability ships then it is better to fight Empire ships vs Empire ships or Rebellion vs Rebellion
Tie Defender and Z-95 - would not complain if they release them
Sorry for the long first post, should i post a Galactic Potato at the end?
Dreadnaught-class cruiser (with both Imperial and Rebel-style card). Slow, tough, can carry one fighter-squadron, somewhat under-armed but should be cheap points-wise. Can't say they will transform player's lists & tactics, but they are part of the GCW story and I'll have me two of them please ![]()
Since I have a source of knowledge of what is popular. The Arquitens and the Dreadnaught areVERY popular. Quasar Carrier and DP20 too.But a Shuttles ans Gunships pack with at least the Lambda and the Decimator are very obvious. Fighters like the E-Wing, Z-95, Tie Defender, Tie Phantom....
I'll be honest, if they never release another thing for Armada I'll be a happy man. With the wave 4 announcement, I've got everything I'll ever need.
I still need the Lambda to recreate the TIE-Fighter anime fan-film.
There's also a Utility Tug in the Tie-Fighter anime fan-film too, if you're going for a complete recreation there, Mel ![]()
I'm not remotely surprised that the Arquitens are in demand (worked on 3 so far, love 'em to bits!) but sometimes I have to wonder why the dreadnaught is so popular. Just for the record: I don't dislike them at all, I just wonder if I'm getting the bleed off appeal and missing something critical.
I can't believe I missed the Peltas too. Nice spot on that Crabbok!
My info is always abridged by the fact that people use my minis as cool replacements. The Dreadnaught is a substitute of the VSD, the Nebulon B2 is a substitute for the Nebulon B and the AF Mk1 is a substitute for the AF Mk2. Maybe people are using the architens as a substitute for the Raider?
The Pelta is good, and there is no ship who really has that size/role (besides the Nebulon B)
Ships from Rebels are making an appearance in both games so I reckon we'll see the Arquitens soon. Possibly wave 5.
Following on from my earlier comment, I think the Resurgent Class (aka First Order Star Destroyer) will be released independent of the waves like TFA stuff for X-Wing. So while I hope it's Wave 5, it could be a separate release. Either way I hope it's soon.
Several of us have discussed ace fighter packs, or some of the "older" fighters. I was thinking about how you could really set those off from just the general fighters. What if you did the stands differently. "Aces" could just be two fighters on a stand (their obvious superiority) and the older, out-dated fighters could be done four to a stand (larger swarms of them to help make up their disadvantages).
I fully realize this is a thematic element only, as the base dial has all the info that matters, but I would kind of like to see a little shake up to the "3 per stand" routine. Makes identification immediate at a glance while adding a unique look.
A dedicated carrier would be nice, but something tells me they're going to make one up (similar to the Raider) over using what we've seen. I also suspect a carrier force might be treated along the lines of the flotillas; not just upping the fighter counts, but actually bringing a new mechanic to the game.
Aye, it doesn't surprise me that there's something of a replacement factor, but the Dred does seem to have quite the following in general. I heard Arquiten for Raider as well. It's true, the pelta doesn't have a close approximation aside from a neb-b, so it seems like prime material.
Quite right RoK, the gozanti and Kallus were just the start, this interdictor is the Rebels show version too. there's quite s bit of potential source material there. Weren't the xwing TFA proper expansions tacked on to other waves officially but released separately? Just seeing if I got my timeline right there is all.
When wave 4 is out we will have 2 large base Rebel ships and only 1 large base Imperial. Something needs to be done about that. Perhaps something like the Praetor II-Class Star Battlecruiser from page 283 of the Age of Rebellion core rulebook. It be only a bit larger than the ISD so it ought to be a large base ship. However, I think that'd only be a slightly more powerful ISD so I don't know that it'd add much variety to the game.
Skipray blastboats
Imperial:
Lancer
bulk cruiser
arquitens
nebulon-b2
pelta
dreadnought
Rebels
correlian gunship
assault frigate mk 1
bulk transport
I don't expect fighters to be in the short term releases. And when they do come, it's going to be a R&V style pack.
To continue releasing fighters is silly. This is a capital ship game. But I wouldn't be surprised if they release carriers (whatever that one from the PC game Rebellion and the Rebels show is...blanking out while I'm at work) and include ace fighter cards with it.
There won't be a wave five cus armada was killed off by wave three......and Demolisher unbalancing the game.......
No love for the Venator...no love.
Rebels stuff for the next 4 ships. (though to be fair, the Interdictor WAS shown in Rebels so you can kinda count )
Not only was the interdictor shown in rebels, we got the exact sculpt from rebels. So im with you on more rebels stuff.
Babs out!
Mel, never fear....I'll keep your lights on by constantly plugging the awesome Venator you made.
Wave V speculation:
More of my money will be gone...
That, Sir, is NOT speculation. It is inevitable.
I think the Resurgent Class (aka First Order Star Destroyer) will be released independent of the waves like TFA stuff for X-Wing. So while I hope it's Wave 5, it could be a separate release. Either way I hope it's soon.
Just been thinking about this some more.
There's only one named Resurgent Class, the Finalizer, so there isn't much choice of title or crew. So, as much as I hate saying it, it could be nearly two years until we see TFA start appearing in Armada.
If they follow the OT pattern, Episode VIII will have lots of ships with lots of Admirals and Captains. Probably chasing Luke, Chewie and Rey as they flee aboard the Millennium Falcon through an asteroid field.
I'll be honest, if they never release another thing for Armada I'll be a happy man. With the wave 4 announcement, I've got everything I'll ever need.
Really? Your happy with the announcement, you don't want them to actually RELEASE wave 4 (or 3, for that matter)? ![]()
They've released shots of the episode 8 a-wing...and I recall rumors they were onboard a ship of new design.
Without a doubt, episode 8 will give us some goodies.
