A A HWK. Help me fly some stuff I've not flown in ages.

By kopmcginty, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So ive neglected my rebels for ages and even when I was flying them, the A's and HWK were already gathering dust.

Time to put that right for a bit. Nothing higher level than Spring kit for a while but I'd like to make it as competitive as possible without switching any ships out.

Considering Jan and title on the HWK so it can store focus early on and turtle later. Also gives option of double evading an A wing if it's in lots of trouble. Roark let's me handle aces better. Still see. The odd Phantom and there is a nasty rebel captive Palp Deci where Tycho shooting first will be a big help.

It lacks reds once the prockets are off but they should be able to hit range 1 a lot of the time and each ship, even the HWK cn be a pain to actually kill.

The Jan and Moldy Crow option comes to 98pts so I have a bid for Jake when I bump Tycho.

Can I make better use if those final 7pts?

Title is a pretty good idea, I'd do that. I am a bit sceptical of Jan Ors, though. If you don't mind not having an initiative bid Chewbacca does a better job of keeping Roark alive. That is a lot of points on such a fragile ship, though. Maybe Jan is just good enough, since you do benefit from that initiative bid. Another option is to go full focus with Rec Spec, which allows you to be reckless with you manouvers in the midgame, since you won't need your actions as much.

So yeah, Jan looks good, consider Rec Spec and maybe Chewie if you find that you don't like her after a few games.

If you consider Kyle in the Hawk, he can pass a focus to Jake in the combat phase, and he can re-position himself after everyone has moved ...
