Recent quests seem to feature enemies that all share a trait. I think the developers are trying to make cards like Rossiel shine in a lot of different scenarios. Now we have Azain Silverbeard, who also works best against these sorts of encounters.
This one worked pretty well against Flight of the Stormcaller, since the enemies share a trait with the ships!

Have given you a comment at ringsdb, so here a suggestion to make a deck combining your armor piercing - direct damage - deck with Thalin and sword-than Anborn and this deck .. but with another hero lineup.
Denethor (Le), Thalin , Damrod ... with Denethors ressource boost you should be able to play sneak attack + Azain + Sword-than (on Azain). Then you can add Steward of Gondor to Azain or Thalin, so Denethor can give his resource to Damrod or the dwarfs.
Add rangers with bows, Gondorian Spearmen with speers and some traps like Ambush, Ithilien Pit and Ranger Spikes, to get some Carddraw and useful enemyhandling.
