Specialization combo's would get my vote... explore what makes one specialization work especially well with another, perhaps some unexpected combinations that produce great Talent synergies, etc...

Bummer. Imagine my surprise when they joked about closing down the forums and just using facebook. That's the kinda thing that pulls the plug on patreon contributions!

Yup. There are those of us who absolutely, positively, refuse to use Facebook.

If you want to give them all your private details and let them sell or otherwise exploit that information any way they want, and run a “default insecure” operation, then you should feel free to do so.

But just because you may choose do so, does not make it right and proper to assume that you should force or “encourage” everyone else to do likewise.

Well there are plenty who do, and some who don't. That's why the forums will never be closed. Unfortunately with polls, the forums are very limited in how polls are run. Having said that, Facebook isn't great with polls either. I'm going to look for some options, but Facebook is giving the guys a general idea of what they need next.

There are those of us who are cloud consultants, and who’ve been doing this kind of thing for decades.

We are intimately familiar with the technologies and what is being done with them by companies like Google and Facebook.

And we actively protect ourselves against the worst of those abuses, frequently by making absolutely certain that we don’t ever use said services in any way, shape, or form.

I don’t object to clouds themselves.

I do object to the military-industrial complex that mines the highly polluting petrochemicals using the worst and most destructive techniques known to mankind, so that they can build better fake cloud machines and line their pockets with more silver.

If you've ever handled a penny, the government has your DNA. If you've ever clicked a link, the government has your internet fingerprint.

I worked for the Defense Information Systems Agency. They have had my fingerprints, Social Security Numbers, and everything else since 1989. So did OPM. And OPM was kind enough to give all that information to the Chinese not too long ago. Me, and a few million other current and former government employees and contractors.

But just because they already have all that information on me doesn’t mean that I actively want to give them everything else.

With regards to Facebook, yeah — they really do crack down on fake accounts. That’s the fastest way to get a Facebook account shut down for someone you don’t like.

Just grief them by reporting them to be a fake, and they’ll get shut down nearly instantly, and then have to go to significant lengths to prove that they really are real and they really are who they claim to be.

Been there, seen it happen way too many times.
