going to fly with the navy for a while

By Wiredin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been flying rebels pretty much exclusively, but want to try flying imperials a bit.

I'm going to field one of these three lists over the weekend... opinions? No proxy, so I don't have access to the new Defender title. I also do not own a basic Tie expansion, nor do I have the Raider or the Gozanti.

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
TIE/v1 (1)
Colonel Vessery (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Academy Pilot (12)
"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Total: 100
"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
"Whisper" (32)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Gunner (5)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)
The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
TIE/v1 (1)
Total: 96
(unsure of what to do with remaining 4 points... torn between swapping FCS for Sensor Jammer and then taking initiative, or putting hull/stealth on Omega or Inquisitor)
Sigma Squadron Pilot (25)
Sensor Jammer (4)
Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)
Sigma Squadron Pilot (25)
Sensor Jammer (4)
Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)
"Omega Leader" (21)
"Epsilon Ace" (17)
Total: 100
I've flown Phantoms once and I really enjoyed it. Was a lot of fun, granted I was using Echo. Having 2 sounds like a load of fun, but I fear the low pilot skill will be a huge hurdle if I face anything like a Uboat or Aces squad.
The first list I'm the most fond of. High pilot skill with a blocker. Or I could take out the academy pilot and put some more upgrades on the defender.

I'd recommend this for your first list, bot OL and Inquisitor is bit naked in your list. And you get full advantage of Vesserys ability with the other two pilots. With everyone on PS8 there's a lot of stuff for activation purposes.

Colonel Vessery — TIE Defender 35
Veteran Instincts 1
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Ship Total: 43

"Omega Leader" — TIE/fo Fighter 21
Juke 2
Comm Relay 3
Ship Total: 26

The Inquisitor — TIE Advanced Prototype 25
Push the Limit 3
Autothrusters 2
TIE/v1 1
Ship Total: 31

The same goes for your other OL builds, that pilot really wants juke and comm relay.

Intelligence agent on the Sigmar could be fun aswell, helps alot where to decloak them.

I second Whippoorwills' advice on the first list. Those three upgrades in place of the Academy Pilot really bump up the efficiency and utility of all three of the other ships.

seems like a better use of points for sure.

Thanks for the tips.

I like 4 ship builds when possible, and Academy Ties are MVPs of a lot of games with their blocking. Drop Omega Leader for Zeta Leader + Wired, then put Autothrusters on Inquisitor.

OR

Drop Inquisitor and Put Comms on Omega Leader. Then you have 26pts to mess with.

Baron TAP + Juke + title + Concussions + chips = 26pts (I use two of these in my squad, only with Homing missiles instead and they are awesome)

Alozen + Title + ATC + Adaptability = 26pts

Colzet + title + ATC + Twin Ion (leaves a point for Vess to also get Twin Ion)
