A glutton for punishment...

By The Asgardian, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

So I broke down and bought a 2nd Core Set from my LFGS after buying one as soon as they came out on retail (No, not any of my players are planning on buying a Core Set for themselves :( )

I feel comfortable now with having plenty of marks, stance tracker, possible duplicates of many Talents and Careers that would stave off if a couple of players wanted the same.

Now I just need to find a way to encourage my group members to normally buy an actual RPG book when we play a game... and not to rely on my stash... sigh.

I actually thought about doing this myself.

Im holding out though.

For the moment!

I know what you mean

all my players except one is very sceptical to the new warhammer, Although they are fans of the previous edition. At least they have accepted to try the demo and scenario or two, and if thats a go, they will chip in to buy a box for the group.

not so bad, it could have been worse. So but yeah, they could have been a tiny bitsy more enthusiastic about the whole idea.

but no way I am going to buy a second copy, the players better cough up some money. Afteralll I provide months of free entertainment for them.

they are a nice gang when all is said and done. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I sit here looking around at well over a hundred a fifty roleplay books from a multitude of systems and think to myself when will my players start buying books aswell??

So I am not the only one facing that problem then :)

I guess it's what happens when your players are your real life friends (and have been since before you took up roleplaying) and you as GM are the most enthusiastic about roleplaying games.

I wouldnt even say i was the most enthusastic, but unfortunatly i spelled my own doom, by starting the trend of buying books myself now everyone almost expects it... i try to set an example i have a few members of old group that dm and buy there own books and i always buy my own core rules/player expansions but noone else seems to be taking point. oh well maybe with 3rd ed i can at least get people to buy some things if i restrict action cards by not allowing sharing etc as at the end of the day the main box is roughly £65 divide that by four or five and its less than a tool kit yet we have the cards to cover most situations, especially since my group has always loved warhammer roleplay for its humour and dark grittyness, even if they are unsure of the new system its not alot to spend to try it out, compared to what it would sting me as im already looking at over a hundred quid for the core set, tool kit, and campagin box. not to mention i will proberly obtain every expasion as and when they come out.

If only I had the solution to that problem. Although in my last nWod game one other player bought the Mage main book. That was nice to have two at the table for once.

With Descent, I asked the players to start to chip in for the expansions.

I could see the same with Warhammer. Everybody chips in an equal share for the fun. GM gets to keep it in the long term for running it. Seems fair to me.
