Happy Friday - Help Me get Regionals in GA

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

I have a problem, how to get to Regionals in GA, it is not money or travel, I live 4 hours away I can drive there the day of and drive home that night. It is not the fact I really still have no idea how to play Armada (I am not above throwing money at a torny I most likely will go 0-5 for) I see it more of paying to meet you kids of the forum.

The real problem is finding a reason to get the wife to let me go for a weekend. So any ideas, (Cuban JR is a factor as a 2 year old) No she does not want to go before you ask, it is not her idea of fun.

Be creative please in the response below.

I think you're f****d.

Come to Nationals instead. "It is nationals" actually makes it seem respectable and not a waste of money.

Working a 12 hour shift tomorrow, but it starts at 11am. That means breakfast with my mom / fiance / her mom.

tell her youll take care of the kid for a week?

As a full time stay at home Dad...

I'm lucky by virtue of the fact that I can turn around to my Wife and say... "I never go anywhere, this gives me time to get out of the House and do something else to re-energise my Fun levels for anything... And this gives you, the Working Mother, time to stay at home and connect with your Child without my interference or busybodying..."

Your situation is quite different, however...

I think you're f****d.

I read this to my wife and we just spent 10 minutes laughing.

How about "Honey, I would really like it if I can go play games for a day? It's over here, so when it finishes I should be able to come home by 11:30."

I think making up an excuse or story is just going to backfire on you.

Give her a free day pass that she can redeem anytime in the future. Basically a day you will watch your youngin and she go off to do something she enjoys. Couples need time to themselves sometimes, especially parents. You need to recharge your batteries and whether she admits it not she needs it just as much as you might. Either way its good to have different interests and encourage each other to pursue them. Ask her to be there for you this time and you will reciprocate down the road.

Come meet a fellow Cuban! (I'll be at Marietta! Heck my brother will be there too. That'll be THREE Cubans at an Armada tournament. Something will have to give.)

If money isn't the issue then the two year old is. I'm not sure what you can do other than offer up a weekend of watching Cuban Jr. and sending your wife to the spa.

Yeah, the shinto martial artist from the islands has a point, tradsies a day where she gets to do something on her own while you watch the kiddos!

Make a trade, a fair exchange.

You go to Armada one weekend, she goes to high tea with her friends (or whatever American ladies do) on a different weekend. If you're smart, she gets her weekend first, while you do something fun with your child:D

That seems a solution that treats her with respect, and everyone is a winner. Including Cubanboy Jr.
