Let's talk about Jyn's Trick Shot

By FrogTrigger, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

So a player in my campaign bought Trick Shot last night and it was the first time I had ever seen it used, so I was un sure what to do.

So since she would technically need to have Line of Sight to use Quick Shot, she can't use Trick Shot to trigger QS, correct?

And does she draw line of sight from the space she counts to or from herself? Does this give her longer range or just meant to help her get around obstacles? Doesn't seem that great if LOS is drawn from her. When is it really useful?

Quick Draw can be used at the start of a hostile figure's activation. There is no requirement to have line of sight to the activating figure when Quick Draw is used. (But without Trick Shot Jyn would not want to waste 2 strain unless she has line of sight. Without line of sight to the target figure the attack would abort during declare target step of the attack.) Trick Shot can be used when declaring target for the attack given by Quick Draw.

Accuracy and Line of Sight are determined separately. Trick Shot only affects line of sight, not how you determine the required accuracy. (You can draw line of sight to the target figure from any space within 3 spaces of Jyn, but you are still counting spaces from the attacker to the target space for accuracy.)

She can use this with Quick Shot, because if you read Quick shot's description you'll notice it doesn't require line of sight, it just requires a figure to activate. Actually performing the attack requires LOS, but activating Quick Shot doesn't. So you can activate Quick Shot, then use Trick Shot to draw LOS for the attack.

She draws LOS from the space she counts to - that's what the ability says. "You can draw line of sight from any space within 3 spaces." So she can use it to shoot around obstacles, or through enemy units.

I was a little slow on my reply I guess, but yeah what a1bert says is right.

Why do I need Faqs when I have you Fizzipoo?

So she can use it for Quick Shot to get around obstacles or other blocking figures, but accuracy is still drawn from Jyn herself not the space she is using LOS from, makes sense since it is a 3 xp card otherwise it would be worthless. So you would be able to technically count accuracy through other figures in this case?

You can always count accuracy through figures. Accuracy is just counting spaces, which ignores figures, impassible terrain, and difficult terrain.

Counting spaces does not ignore blocking terrain, you mean impassible terrain.

(Counting spaces cannot go through walls, doors or blocking terrain.)

Oh oops - yes, edited to correct that.
