Intensify Forward Firepower Episode XX: Where Greebles Haul

By WWPDSteven, in Star Wars: Armada

Ok. I need to listen to this episode......clearly.

Dano ill jump..

I've crutched flight controllers interceptors and howlrunner for 6 blue dice attack since it became a thing.... ill be that guy.

Since it became a thing?

For clarity:

When I said "There is (going to be?) a reemergence of Flight Controllers" did you roll your eyes and inwardly feel superior because you have been rocking Flight Controls since VSD release? If so, here's your shoes, wear'em. /wink

will the rebels get a solid counter to rhymer ball?

This was how I mistakenly looked at each Factions special characters, units and Titles. And its not a good practice (unless a player passionate about playing a specific faction), because this system isn't strictly Blue vs Red. I STILL get caught up trying to brew up counters cross-factionally. But we shouldn't.

Like, as an example, the first thing I thought of when I read the new admiral, Cracken, was 'He's a hard counter to Ackbar CR90s'.

Yes..... go to my blog and see the wave 1 tournament reports. I played flight controllers before it was cool. I am the squadron hipster.

Imperials have a great answer to Rhymer balls.... its called Howlrunner, Flight Controllers, and TIE Interceptors. Even firesprays go down to it exceedingly fast.

side note: every thing you post, I read with a boston accent

WOOT WOOT! My name has officially been Spoken on IFF

10/10 would fall asleep to soothing sounds of dano Screaming again

You've arrived

You guys should have waited another day! You wouldnt have missed wave 4, lol.

The IFF High Command is convening an emergency session, I Believe.

I mean, on the off chance I could ever get across the way and play a game on your Stream - It'd be Navigation Hazards and Beer :D

Traitor!!!

Just as I was thinking about recording some games for an Armada show on Monday, you go off whoring yourself out to anybody with a camera ;)

You can have him Steve, he's bad at the game anyway :P

I will be administering a severe Greeble Haulin' on Sunday Paul!

Hey, I actually managed to download it and then listen to it all in one day. 'Tis fun and good job. Now, if thou woudst have waited for but another few fleeting hours, there's some shots at Wave IV that you could have taken.

Anyhow, I had a lot of fun with it. I've used Greeblehauled before as my penchant for needless repainting. But that's me. Lets see, random unfiltered thought time:

Blue objectives: I agree they're weak with the exception of some potential seen in Superior Positions. The tokens can really add up, but it's just forcing a full fleet set up that gets me as something potentially important. Again, that's a potential, some fleets can easily mitigate that with high speed and maneuverability. Other than that, the objectives are a little low end in points for the blues. They can shift the margins in tournament scoring but they don't often make it. Comparatively, something like double points on a Christmas tree Mk.II. "It has the the firepower and value, greater than half the starfleet." Minefields, as far as I've experienced in a tournament setting, really are shooting for that 6-4, 5-5. I mean, I faced a clonisher list last time and nothing died until turn 6. It ended up with a 6-4 because no one wanted to engage on the other's terms.

By and large, I agree with Dano's point regarding 'just bring what you like'. The worst losses I've suffered in this game were after pointlessly taking advice of what ships and upgrades I 'need to' take to tournaments. Needa, I just kept forgetting him, so that plus TRC's on an ISD II (for instance) was a completely worthless set up that cost me a lot. Practice what you play and preach, you'll likely do a lot better.

As for the flotillas, well, they do seem to be the fleet shepherds. They look like they'll be great, and in my case, I'm going to be using 1-2 just to fill in the activations and extra bodies that I'd otherwise be investing in more pricy Raiders and CR90's that don't work so well for me. So I take those out, and some of the upgrades to sheer off the responsibilities. Even today I found that I'd love to take a GR-75 and dedicating my MC80 as a combat monster rather than shepherding squadrons around like school children (you NAMBLA'd it up, not me!).

I'm sooo very excited for these transports! I'm sure I have more to mutter about, but I'll have to listen again. Thanks again, it made a great soundtrack for painting an ISD too.

Still ain't done of course, but I got that done over the span of a podcast. I blame you lot.

Oh man that thing is sick and it's all thanks to the show. You're welcome.

Put out a Wave IV episode and I might actually be able to finish it :P And maybe figure out how to not haul greebles via 'gettin' gud' while I'm at it.

In the meantime, I'm gonna go try to find the balance between 'carrier fleet' and 'having enough firepower to plink something bigger than gnats'.

That ISD looks awesome. I am stuck on a massive beast in (Amygdala?) in Bloodborne if any PS4ites want to assist me! indierockclimber is my PSN

Did you try sweeping the legs?

Which set of legs?

Did you try painting fences? Waxing a car? Pruning a Bonzai tree? Perhaps an arrow to the knee would do the trick.

Thanks again, it made a great soundtrack for painting an ISD too.

I cant tell if that is washed or drybrushed. . . I think washed with either the same wash with multiple coats as it gets darker or a couple of washes. . .

Neither Ly-ly mate, It's all hand painted plates. Every plate has 3 coats of paint overtop of the base layer shaded after a wash to get the recesses. I actually put up a tutorial a while back on how to do it. Might put it in the painting thread. But thanks KrisSheriff, Chancellor, I had to do something while listening to the podcast. And I did. It was insightful and with XXI I got it finished. Blame them :P
