In Intensify Forward Firepower Episode 20, Dan, Skyshuffler, Easy/Chance, and Drunk Tarkin find their way back to the Flesh Star Destroyer from scattered points across the galaxy to talk shop about Star Wars Armada. First they make weak excuses for their extended absence. After, they talk about Regional Tournaments, flotillas, obscure naval terminology, and forgotten ships making big comebacks.

Yesh! Mesa gon lissen big time!

Apology accepted captain...err...Needa

Completely agree about the blues. Unless you're playing heavy squadrons or have some trick for Superior Positions, there's nothing really great for you there. I mean, there are workable objectives there, but nothing you can really lean hard into.

Hounds called off.

I still like Intel Sweep just because you know where the opponent's ships are going, but yeah, I wish there was a scarier one.

I will take a step further and say the blue objectives are a large part of what is deforming the meta, because you either want:

  1. Superior positions with a ton of squadrons
  2. Intel sweep with a super aggro list so you know where to pin your opponent down
  3. To go first

Minefields and Dangerous Territory (with maybe the exception of a 6+ fast ship rebel list) are useless. Therefore, if you are going second, you are boxed in on your choices. A balanced, flexible list that would be good at many red or yellow objectives will always have the blue picked, and then it's just a strict disadvantage to go 2nd.

I would suggest FFG could greatly change the meta simply by releasing a single blue objective to fix this.

ooo-rah! Thanks again!

This is on the top of my wishlist: new objectives. And not just a single blue, but a couple for each category. So you can build a variety of 2nd player list and prosper on account of your objectives. You can't really do that now.

Side note: Diablo Azul made some custom objectives that are actually quite good. Have a look and imagine how they would change things.

I agree the blues are the weakest of all the objectives, but I have used minefields to great effect with a double ISD list. You simply make one half of the field unplayable by loading it up with all the mines/obstacles. Then your opponent has to decide if they try to fly through that mess to flank you, or have to sit in the front arc of two ISDs

Until the counter list is 3xVSD rhymerball that also wants this, and can sit perfectly still and force you to drive through your own mines to get to them while rolling the squadrons towards you.

Minefields is terrible for the same reason Fleet Ambush is terrible: it's a 2nd player objective that, in some (not totally uncommon circumstances) can favor the 1st player!

Your objective needs to ALWAYS help you as 2nd player. Minefields is never that kind of guarantee. Arguably the only list that should take it is a turtle squadron list to build a wall of mines around their turtle position, but they are usually better off with Superior Positions to bomb from behind.

On my second listen through

Why would you do that to yourself?

Why would you do that to yourself?

So I can digest all of the wisdom that you guys impart unto me ;)

I just feel like greeblehauling myself

Sky is #1 in the aft taint 'hood for that reference.

Good greeblehauling in the morning is how I like to start my day.

You guys should Try the Previewed, But Unreleased, and thus "Dubiously Official" Objective, " Navigational Hazards"

IT IS INSANE

Also, I've been out all Morning at my Kiddo's Speech language, so I only get to Download now...

... Just in case it was already covered, and all.

That does sound pretty fun

I mean, on the off chance I could ever get across the way and play a game on your Stream - It'd be Navigation Hazards and Beer :D

IFF needs to start GreebleCon based on the NAMBLA sleep over. I hear the IFF podcast guys are Marlon Brando look a likes.

Listening now will comment later.

@Dras- you've got a deal. I forget where you are- might be a bit spatially challenged on making that happen!

I'm in Calgary, and me actually entering the United States isn't easy for this Ex-Pat Australian.

So I'd be happy to just see it done, rather than participate :D
