Road to Legend Feedback ideas

By Zjet, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Don't known if tendrils of darkness is a bug. Theres another peril maybe correlative to the next campaign that make you lose the quest in fewer turns.

I think it's too much. I don't want to be babied either, but c'mon. When the app tells you to apply 18+ damage to all heroes in a game where the highest base Health is 14 (unless I forgot somebody) that's just boring and feels cheap. Besides, in this game, taking 2 or 4 damage per round is a huge game changer already. Lemme go out in a blaze of glory during combat instead.

I wonder, will Kindred Fire cost money?

Yes, they have already stated the first mini campaign is free. Following campaigns will cost money, but they will also be much larger/longer full size campaigns.

I literally only bought Descent because of the App and i love it, The peril mechanic has slaughtered my heros 3 times when the Shadow dragon appears on that side quest no matter how fast i get there which is frustrating but keeps me thinking of better ways to get to that point quicker.

I think including heirs of blood and Shadow rune campaigns would be really good as they are both campaigns that can be played with the base set.

Coincidentally I was playing playing Hook Line & Tentacle with my sister last night. Her heroes for this run are Avric Albright ( Disciple ) & Alys Raine ( Marshall ). I went with Astarra ( Conjurer ) & Thaiden Mistpeak ( Bounty Hunter ).

It's been a pretty good run so far, we managed to make quick work of Bove Wolfe during Soul to Save and made it to the altar with no KOs.

So far we've had only 1 KO in our hunt for the treasury, thanks to stubborn tentacles on bad Knowledge rolls of all things

Had to call it a night because it was getting late, however we got lucky because the peril mistrust (after being quite annoying the initial 3 times) turned out to actually help push Astarra down the hall towards the key. Some times that peril works in your favor, but EXTREMELY rare.

So there I am, on my turn leaving Astarra (me) next to the key that I'm going to pick up on my next activation. At the other end of the map tile 20B hallway is Avric & Alys (both her, Marshall badly in need of healing) while Thaiden (me) is peaking around the corner of the Treasury keeping those **** Merriod re-spawns at bay. The map is clear of monsters and tentacles. Aside from some much needed healing we're good to go to on our plan to bum-rush that Shadow Dragon (who's unique name escapes me now) or should we start to lose horribly at least run into the treasury and make good our escape with all that sweet sweet gold .

But we forgot one tiny detail...

The previous turn we received Major Peril - ??? and a short description of a booming sound and the floor shaking, something big seems to be incoming

Before the new round begins, would you look at that, our good buddy Bol'Goreth now stands at the entrance of the treasure vault with his sights set on our friendly neighborhood Bounty Hunter...

I have to say that I love how this app throws a monkey wrench into even the best laid plans. Looks like tonight Mr. Mistpeak is going to have to add another spot on his wall of trophies for a couple of Troll Ears. They'll probably look great mounted next to those Dragon Horns though...

Just in case anyone cared, We put that Troll down hard and fast in 1 round (kinda anti climactic) and then took the dragon out in 2 & a half rounds more. Poor Merriods (re-spawns) were left crying watching Mamma Tentacles succumb to our Mighty...Mightness!!!

"Ah yes, Troll soup... HEY! Don't knock it till you try it..."

THE HEROES WIN!

I had planned on buying the base set and all of the box expansions when they announced the app, but after hearing how little the app actually offers, I've decided to wait to see if they add in features I assumed would be part of the experience.

I think including heirs of blood and Shadow rune campaigns would be really good as they are both campaigns that can be played with the base set.

I personaly do not think that they should add things in the app to make you not have to use things from the boardgame, then it would be moore of a computer game. I love the fact that you play it as the boardgame but gets the adventure and overlord from the app so it can be played as singleplayer. I think this is one of a kind experience and please do not make it as a computer game, but this is my opinion. If they add datasheets or anything else to make it easier to not have to use things from the boardgame i hope they make this an option so you dont have to depend on that. (sorry for my bad English).

What I would love is a way to just use the monster group activation feature on its own. This would be helpful for:

[1] swapping in a different monster group than the one suggested

[2] playing solo with the print scenarios

[3] finishing an encounter when the app crashes (yes, this has happened a few times, and then we couldn't get the quest to continue with the same monster groups)

Cheers,

[4] also Quest Vault scenarios could use the app that way for some nice user made campaigns....

:P

Chromecast and Airplay support!

Chromecast Support would be unbelievable!

[5] also add the Conversion Kit - have much invested in the original Descent & would love to be able to use the heroes & monsters from the conversion kit with this app.

Sadly for people owning the conversion kit, that's pretty unlikely.... :(

Because they WANT you to buy the newer versions.

But to be fair on that topic: the monsters have been gotten rebalanced in the H&M packs, because of feedback and new added rules (from expansions and so on).

So from their viewpoint out, why would they allow the use of "game breaking /inbalanced stuff" if they gave you the oppertunity to get the "better" ones? (IMHO that's kinda their standpoint on that topic?)

I would suggest a couple of things that would really improve the App experience...

1. Add a filter so we can turn OFF and turn ON certain parts of certain expansions eg: let us turn on HEROES and CLASSES from expansions but turn off tiles, maps, quests, enemies of them. This would be much better as having all your descent stuff on out in one big pile takes up a ton of room and ends up being just a mess. it would be nice if we could play with all of our heroes and classes but not have to pull out EVERY piece of EVERY expansion we own just so we have to find that one odd tile piece or one random enemy from some expansion.

I would like also to see this implementation (with the possibility also of saving the lists of components selected).

Furthermore these are the additional things I would like to see:

- Random generated dungeon(s), at least as stand-alone game mode option.

- Variable quest(s) and multiple path(s) during the campaign.

- Monsters options and actions adapted to the group limit(number of heroes), in particular for two players.

- More sounds and background music

- Faster flow of information

- Clearer options selection and information

- Narrator’s voice for background information during the quest

- Much money from the search tokens, at least for the Thief

- Offline rules implemented in the app, such as a sort of glossary

- some other solution for item shopping

Seriously: I do not want to order my shop deck alphabetically, since I still regularly play normal Descent games. The fact that the shopping section only lists item names, but not what they do, IMHO is an entirely unnecessary annoyance. I always have to call upon a Wiki, because I really don't enjoy browsing a very large card stack for cards that I might not even want to buy. So either let me draw my shop cards myself manually and let me input the result into the application after I picked my purchase OR list the entire card text when offering shop cards ... so at least I only have to search for those cards that I really want to buy.

I wouldn't mind if they would show all 6 shop items at once. We could then easily share the deck between players to quickly find all 6. But because 2 are on 2nd page we have to remember those 2. I have most of my cards in Polish, so usually we have to look for item based on image.

Drawing by yourself would probably take more time and inputting it manually would be a pain. Not to mention this would beat whole Fame system. You can get act 1 and act 2 items mixed in one draw by app.

I don't think they would lose anything by showing us full cards in shopping step. They still wouldn't show us full cards anywhere else, so the app would be just as unusable without real cards as it is right now. If you wanted to play without components then there's no real difference between having card ingame and having it on wiki.

Why would they give us the opportunity?

Maybe in good will because some of us owned the entire 1st edition run before they introduced 2nd edition AND paid for the conversion kit on top of it?

I was thrilled about the Road to Legend app, but less so if I can't use the ton of stuff I invested in years ago with original descent.

If you have all the expansions, figures, etc, then I would add all of the Hero's and Monster packs to the app's collection as they all seem to be 1st edition monsters and Heroes. Yes, I know some hero's abilities got changed or reworded, but that's what my label maker is for. I understand that it's not ALL the Hero's and monsters, but I think you will get more added over time as FFG releases more packs.

But yes, would be good to be able to click Conversion Pack and have everything show up, but as stated, some cards have been changed pretty drastically so in FFG's mind they are probably not 'supporting' them anymore?

Or maybe they need to release a Conversion Kit 2.0 that prints the newly balanced powers for heroes and monsters.

Also, I like the idea above of just using a label maker. I invested hundreds of dollars into 1st edition and the conversion kit. Not about to re-purchase my Beastmen just because they have a new picture and a slightly different ability.

LOVE this app! I hadn't touched my copy of Descent for years and now I've pulled it out of the closet and buying a whole lot of expansions (not looking forward to checking my bank statement). Things that I think could make the app better are:

Shop Item Details - Each shop item should have its stats printed on the screen. It's a bit jarring to have to go through the deck of item cards to find all available items just so we can see their stats. Ideally I would only like to have to find the cards I want to buy. This should be on the screen by default too, not one of those "click on the card for more info" things because again it would be jarring to the experience to have to click on each of the cards on the screen.

Monster Surge Details - When monsters activate, the order in which they spend their surges should be shown on the screen without having to click on the skull. Again, this just makes the game flow better because you don't need to toggle back and forth from the info by clicking on the skull. There seems to be plenty of unused screen space that could be used to accommodate this. Also this would allow the possibility of changing up the order that surges are spent so it's not always the same for the same kind of monster. In the current implementation you can't do this because people will stop clicking on the skull once they've memorized the surge spending order for each monster.

Random Dungeon Layout - This is obviously a lot more difficult to implement than my first two suggestions, but it will definitely go a long way to increase replayability. The objectives for each quest can stay the same, but it would be cool if every time you opened a door, a random tile or collection of tiles is selected.

as i got my 1st H&M pack i'd love some one backstory adventures

how bright blaze and so and so met.. or the destruction of so and so village..and how she escaped

Lyssa cat lady or the core spirit speaker learning from ruins/communing with spirits some temple.

ranger guy how he saved his patrol..

maybe a mage duel scenario how elf guy became a geomancer

Couldn't you in that case just print out the new versions of the cards? as someone stated they are available on some wiki sites...

I am not sure FFG would like that though... because of copyright and so on....

But maybe they wouldn't mind if you own the first edition versions and the conversion kit? (Someone should ask them about that?)

I mean there IS no real damage for FFG if you wouldn't buy the H&M packs anyway, right? Though that's not really how any company would think like...

I am going to buy all 2nd edition stuff anyway, because I don't own any 1st edition stuff... so it's easy to say stuff like that, because it doesn't effect me either way...

Additional: aren't there some minis in the H&M packs, which where NOT available in the 1st edition? What would you do, if the App would throw these at you?

Whatchu gunna do 'bout dem Crowhags son?!

+1 for the convertion kit integraiton !!!

Please FFG: do consider adding v1 content through the conversion kit. This should be part of the support for your old Descent fans ! And BTW the kit is a v2 product ;)

Road to Legend is just great => THANK YOU !

I just need to say that I completely love the concept of this app. Me and my wife have played almost every night this week. We tried playing the paper version of co-op with forgotten souls and found it to be a little bit of a hassle. This new app makes things so much easier. All I can say is more content. I don't care if I have to pay for it I just want more. I'm not much of a forum person but I have enjoyed playing co-op with my wife so much that I made an account just to say that I think it's great and if you keep the content coming you will always have a customer out of me
