Reinforced Deflectors timing questions

Does the card regenerate only 1 shield token per 3 or more damage dealt or does it continue to regenerate a shield token each turn up till it's shield value?

It regenerates 1 shield for each attack where it suffers 3 or more damage. It is not an ongoing ability. It relies on an attack to trigger each time.

Seems to be a bit of a dead topic now, but just played this upgrade for the first time.

Encountered one issue. Had 1 Hull and 0 shield remaining. Got dealt 3 damage cards. This may seem like a stupid question but, am I able to regenerate a shield at that point or is my ship instantly destroyed destroyed?

Your ship is destroyed, having zero hull is enough to destroy a ship even if it was still somehow at max shields.

Clarification question with the current errata (p.3 FAQ4.2.3) since it is now a combination of damage and critical damage the Major Explosion question is back. If I take a regular damage and Major Explosion that rolls into another critical damage, have I now suffered the requisite 3 or does the cascade from ME not count as suffered in the attack?

Firstly, you need to update your FAQ. We're now up to version 4.3.2 (March 2017).

Secondly, I would say that you would recover 1 shield because Damage is resolved in Step 7 and Reinforced Deflectors triggers and is resolved in step 8, so by the time you get to it, the accumulated damage from Step 7 should count. Major Explosion instructs you to suffer 1 critical damage. It doesn't tell you to just deal a card. And Reinforced Deflectors requires you to suffer 3 damage or critical damage.

'Suffered Damage' is distinct and separate from 'hits on hull' and 'deal damage cards'

There is a specific FAQ entry for RD, been in there for a while:

"If a ship is dealt a Direct Hit! Damage card during an attack, it counts as having suffered 1 critical damage (even though Direct Hit! counts as 2 damage against its hull value). When a ship equipped with Reinforced Deflectors is hit by Plasma Torpedoes, the additional shield token removed by Plasma Torpedoes does not count as suffering damage. If this attack causes that ship to suffer 3 or more damage, it recovers 1 shield after Plasma Torpedoes resolves."

The extra critical from Major Explosion would also count toward the total of 3 damage, but only if it's during an attack.

If you're unlucky enough to hit a rock outside of an attack and get both Major Explosion cards (for a total of 3 suffered damage), RD would not trigger.

It's funny, this situation just came up in a game the other night.
