Jack the Ripper did it!
Modern setting with a fresh from school DI with OCD thrown in with a bunch of veteran DSs and DCs. The first season has someone recreating Jack's kills.

As 'mericans we realize that the show leads will have plot armor. Daft Brits realise we don't know how to spell armour.

Examples of murdering good English.
*L*. One of the things i love about our TV is that the heroes have very weak plot armour. If it appears as if the star is in jeopardy he or she might well be. See Spooks/MI-5 for prime examples. Or Torchwood for that matter
I really liked Broadchurch...

I think I actually saw that episode by chance. Not a big crime drama/mystery fan. I do watch the occasional rerun of Poirot, altough that's more for the 1920s-30s setting than anything else.

Agatha Christie was a great writer! Her description of the Belgium detective Hercule Poirot brought him to life off the pages of her books. The actor that portrays him in the series seems to me to be spot on. My favorite book of hers was "Ten Little Indians". I watch the old B & W version once a year. Never gets old.

And then there were none...
It's almost a proto-slasher isn't it? It's one of the few Agatha Christy novels I've read. I am afraid my first reaction to the ending was: "What. Seriously?"
My wife is a big fan of British procedurals. Her favorites, to date, I think, are Prime Suspect, River, and Wallander.
