Runebound 3rd ed Descent 2nd ed heroes look slightly different

By SpawnGarret, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Anybody noticed difference?

They look pretty similar, but still it's obvious they come from different molds. I wonder why.

For example, Lord Hawthorne

I think the problem is they don't get all minis from the same printer (do you call them that?).

They seem to order all stuff from one game from the same but the different games get each a different design and thus different sizes and stuff... also other printers may use different material to print the minis.

(I think that happens, because the negotiate with the company which makes the minis and if the price isn't low enough (or the details not good enough) they need a different material and different size and stuff.

In another thread some people talked about size differences between the two btw:

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/217714-miniature-scale-question/

Yes they're definitely different in size, the Runebound mini's being noticeably smaller.

for strange reasons ...

Maybe different process or fabric . The Descent lieutenants from mists of belihall have more details and are in different scale (slightly larger) than the others and the monsters are more whither (different process and materials).

Actually, not only size. Lord Hawthorne models have significantly different poses and details. And the size is roughly the same

I have everything for Descent 2nd Ed so far, you can see the difference in scale and quality from the base game all the way up to Mists and Treaty of Champions.

Now mind you, when I got my Descent base set I was very impressed with the quality of the minis, still am in fact. But put Avric Albright next to Sir Valadir or Grizban the Thirsty next to Krutzbeck and you're going to notice the difference. Hell just look at the new Monsters and Lieutenants from Mists of Bilehall (Also check out Ispher's mini, he's freaking rad).

I for one am very happy that they continue to up their game and put out even better quality minis... now if they only had used better models for Merrick Farrow and Eliza, instead of re-using 1st Ed cast...grr...
