Imperial Veterans: Triple D build

By jangopool, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Can't wait for the Imperial Vets expansion and am already tinkering on some lists.

What do you guys think of my first go at it:

Rexler Brath (37)

Crack Shot (1)

Tractor Beam (1)

TIE/D (0)

Countess Ryad (34)

Adaptability (0)

TIE /x7 (-2)

Delta Squad Pilot (30)

TIE /x7 (-2)

99 points

I would want the Delta Squad try to block while Countess is going in and out of attacks and Rexler picks off guys one at a time. Crack shot will be essential for the tractor beam and to deliver the final blow on a particular ace.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Rexlar Brath fires twice per turn, and as such, he'd probably benefit more from something that worked on the offense more than once per game. Right now you've got a PS8 Rexlar who costs 39pts. For 37pts you can take a PS8 Vessery who can shoot first, and then benefit from the free target lock twice, assuming one of the other Defenders was able to target lock the enemy. This puts the list total at 97pts, giving you enough extra space to put an EPT on Countess.

I liked Rexlar's ability to have damage cards go face up, but I like your thinking. Here's another go:

Colonel Vessery (35)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Tractor Beam (1)

TIE/D (0)

Countess Ryad (34)

Juke (2)

TIE /x7 (-2)

Delta Squad (30)

TIE /x7 (-2)

The problem with TIE/D Rexler in general, and your build in particular, is that you're unlikely to ever use his ability. Your one measly little focus token per turn can support either of your attacks or your defense or your pilot ability... that's demanding a lot. I support X/7 Rexler more if you really like that pilot ability. It controls costs and helps your defense, hopefully freeing up the focus. The points difference buys you Predator.

Alternatively we could go the Vessery route. I'm not convinced you need VI on Vessery here, given that he's naturally higher PS than his squadmates. This is where you go Crack. Or, if you're feeling more adventurous, you can drop to Adaptability and give Countess PtL. Flavor to taste, any of those approaches would probably work. Generally I'm not a fan of Juke on only one ship when that ship isn't Omega Leader, but Vessery's enough of a beatstick it might work out for you.

I am not sure if Vessery would be good with just a 6 PS. Making him 8 does help a lot IMO. With Countess getting an evade every time she K turns, that could help with any potential jousting. I personally love predator and could be down for Vessery to have it:

Brath - predator+TIE/x7

Countess - juke+TIE/x7

Delta Squad Pilot - TIE/x7

Total points 100

Have you considered vessery maarek and ryad?
